my parents have been wanting to get me a car for awhile, and i insisted on only a prius. they picked up a magnetic gray '08 last night, and i got it today! it was weird driving a car that had 33 miles on the odometer. i'm 21, and play football here at miami university in ohio. for spring break, i'm driving down to new orleans for katrina relief, and i'm pumped to be getting ~50 mpg. the last 20 minutes of my drive today i was around 54 mpg, and was loving the way in runs. i'm going to graduate next december, and then i plan on going on a 3-5 month road trip with a buddy around the country, and i think this car is going to serve me well for that. this forum is such a cool community and i'm happy to be participating!
Hi redhawks48, welcome to PriusChat! You're a lucky guy with great parents! You're going to love this car! If you're going camping when you go on this road trip, consider a Napier tent. What mods are you planning?
"new student owner in ohio" My first reaction was, "oh no, that sounds an awful lot like slavery . . . this can't be good." Welcome to PriusChat redhawks48 [yippie!!!!! 3,000 posts!!!! It was worth the bad pun just to get over the hump.]
welcome great that you parents buy you a car... even better a prius nobody @ the team calling you name's because your driving a prius? because it not cool?
Welcome to the forum. As a student, your new car will definitely help you a lot in terms of buying gas. If you do a lot yourself, changing oil on the Prius is easy. Just remember, don't go drag racing with your college buddies. Have fun with the car.
before i test drove it a few weeks i was worried about the room...but i fit great in it! i drove a '94 grand am for a few years, so i'm used to small cars. i weigh 230, and feel very comfortable in this car. you know, a lot of guys on our team drive cool looking cars, and i'm sure some are smirking at my prius, but i'm a junior 2 year starting middle linebacker so i don't get a ton of crap from people. i have a reputation for being somewhat hippie-ish, so this didn't surprise anyone. that tent looks pretty sweet! wow. i wasn't planning on doing anything like that, but i may have to look into it.... my buddy and i have a ton of friends all over the country so we were planning on staying with those people. also, we were looking into couch surfing...anyone have any experience with it...seems like a great idea...check it out at CouchSurfing --oh and what type of mods would you suggest? i'm pretty simple, but is there anything cheap and easy to do that would be a major help?
I went to the University of Toledo so I like all M.A.C. teams. If the Toledo game is at Toledo I will watch for you. I usually don't go to many road games other than the one every other year at Western Michigan.
