I'm getting tired of the mediocre sound quality from my tape adapter and I'm wondering if anybody has had success wiring their 2005 JBL system with a 1/8" aux in. Just a basic 1/8" stereo input for a 2005 JBL equipped Prius (just like the input in the glove box of the 2006+ Prius'). Nothing fancy like the Dice Silverline. Anybody?
narf had a plan where he cut one wire on the JBL unit under the passenger's seat and installed a jack between the cut. The problem was that he had to run the CD player at the same time. His solution was to put in a CD with nothing recorded on it in one slot, ran that and plugged his player into the jack.
I'm aiming for more of a "plug-and-play" install so I can easily return to stock... do you know of anyone that has a picture of the back of their 2005 JBL system? What does the aux port look like? Thanks aaf, I'll consider narf's solution if I can't find a good alternative
I just thought of something that should work and be more of a "Plug N Play." How about a wired FM antenna? You plug it into the antenna input of the radio and plug the old antenna wire into that.
In this older thread, it is mentioned that AUX-BOX and AB-TOYT are all you need. My cousin had to use the AUX-BOX to output the sound from the carputer to the JBL system. There was a quirk with the interface due to JBL system's CD-changer, but other than that, it did the job.
Another solution is the ipod2car. According to one review, however, you'd lose your ability to play CDs. You can read about it at A review of the iPod2car iPod car adapter
