Well it finally happened.... Picked my parents up at the airport. Wandered back out to short term parking. Pointed them to the driftwood prius. Walked up to the hatch. Grabbed it and.... Nothing... Let go, grabbed it again, Nothing.... FInally noticed a dream catcher or something hanging from the rearview mirror, and it dawned on me. This wasn't my prius. Turned around and next lane over... was mine. Guess it's time to read the appearance mod forum... or get off my duff and figure out how to mount the 2m/440 rig in the car.... the extra 'tennae will make it stand out. cas (the embarrassed) FWIW mom says the Prius rides as nice as her Avalon. I think she's being polite but... PS If you own a driftwood prius and had it parked near the terminal c baggage claim at SJC about 2215 on 15 Dec'04.... Nice Car!
I found something our recently that I'm going to use to id my Prius. The dome light turns on as you approach the vehicle. So, if it's dark and the dome light doesn't fade up, it's not my Prius. There's three Salsas at work. For now I have newcaritis and park out in LA LA land so the car doesn't get dinged, but when I start parking closer, IDing the correct car is gonna be an issue. My manager has already tried to open the wrong car.
That is why I put the BIG "HYBRID" sticker on the back. Then I really had deja vu when I saw another Silver with the same BIG sticker in Orange County on Redhill one day. Do, Do, Do,Do-do..... It was kind of like seeing yourself ahead of you....
For some reason, my favorite car color (blue) is relatively uncommon. Makes it easy to spot my car from a distance even when I cannot see enough of it to identify what kind of car it is. Close up, the license place is positive ID. Not really likely that someone will have a blue Prius from another state with the same plate, here in Fargo. Someone in Moorhead (just across the river, in MN) could get a blue Prius and get the same plate, but people in this part of the country are not that perverse.
Dang! Very good point. This behavior freaked the wife a couple of weeks ago... Here's 10 points for reminding me of what I should have known <grin> <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tntna\";p=\"57829)</div>
Haven't memorized my plate yet.... and all the '04 prii I've seen have same prefix... FWIW... The blue's popular out here, or maybe I just notice it more 'cause I like it. Tis what I ordered but not what I drive... a very long story driven around the wait list and a disappearing Prius <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel\";p=\"57835)</div> cas ('04 #7 Driftwood)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel\";p=\"57835)</div> Your Prius is blue?!?!?! That's my favorite color in the entire world!! My '86 Blazer is blue, and the only one of it's color in my area. I love it so.... *cuddles truck* I have only ever seen one blue Prius around here, and it saddens me to know that the grey interior doesn't come with the blue exterior. (PS, I will answer your PM soon...I've just been over-booked at work the past couple days and will not likely get a chance to answer it til Sunday) My solution to possitive ID of my vehicles (and my Prius will be no exception...): the funky scifi paraphenalia inside! You can't miss it. I think Beast Blazer would probably scare most people... hehe. My Prius will also have a "static electricity gatherer" antenna on the front liscence plate holder (possibly also with an antenna ball on it, just because I can...), and a ToyYoda figurine on the dash. LOL, fear my funky ways of personalising my vehicles!
In 1983, a few days after purchasing a new Toyota Tercel, I walked home from the used car lot where I had just turned over my previous car. About a block from the used car lot, I swore that I saw my new car parked at the curb. That brought upon the realization that this car came in very few colors and was going to be popular. Then and there, I resolved to get a personalized licence plate (see my sig.)
It's easy to remember your plate when it's a personalized one. (I don't advertise my plate on chat boards, just in case my radical views offend any nut-case lurkers -- but it's not Prius-related.) Yep. Blue. Just like my Civic was, and the piece-of-junk Jeep before that. Always blue. (And no worries about the PM. As many hours as you work, I'm surprised you have time for PMs, or even chatboards, at all.) P.S. The interior color looks quite nice.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel\";p=\"58111)</div> I'm gonna hunt you down like a dawg... Only because I like a kitty with BIG EYES  The following is Prius content for this message: I am going to have to buy the first tank of gas for my car this weekend. Just turned 300 miles.
Wow, Daniel... you're as obsessed with blue as I am. My previous POS car was silver, but it's interior was blue! Beast Blazer is blue inside and out... but since I'm not a fan of tan interiors, my Prius will not be able to be blue. Unless Toyota makes a special Prius just for me!  Re personalised license plates: I have no idea what to put on mine. I guess it will end up reflecting whatever name I give my Prius, but that will be a while since I have to get to know it first to see what kind of name fits it best. Awww, it's like naming a kitten....  Nope, I really don't have time for msg boards, to be honest. That's why I log on at irratic times; it's also why this is the only one I read and post on. No time for more. *shrug* Welp, back to work..... *falls over and dies*
I've struggling to come up with something appropriate for a personalized plate. Until I do, I ordered (and they just arrived) personalized license plate frames from TrafficTalk.com. I also have an American flag on my antenna. My husband isn't too keen on anything on the antenna but who cares? I'm the one looking for it in the parking lots and driving it. Just my way of making it mine (without peeing on the tires!)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusham\";p=\"58157)</div> How come girls never want to hunt me down? Maybe I'd have better luck if I turned gay.
daniel, it's because the girls can't find you!! because you don't advertise your license plate on public forums, they don't know where to look for you. after all, north dakota is a big state!! well, not quite as big as california or texas, but bigger than the little dinky ones in vermont or rhode island...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daniel\";p=\"58272)</div> Daniel Based on my life experience, if you one day realize that you are gay, you'll find it is the guys who never chase you.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(GreenSteve\";p=\"58274)</div> Daniel Based on my life experience, if you one day realize that you are gay, you'll find it is the guys who never chase you. [/b][/quote] You're probably right!
