haha watch out were the most dangerous kind of yankee fans however both our benefits (less weight or less drag) for mpg wont financially outweigh the amount of money we could get selling them to some other prius driver with money to burn
The weigh about as much as the aerodynamic benefit, yes. If this was so darn important... why - when they were making wheels specifically for this car - did they not simply design them correctly?
i just found a set of those rings in my closet leftover from my 04 prius. wonder what folks would pay for them.. they dont seem to vibrate or emit gamma rays or anything although they are kind of menacing looking in an innocent kind of way. seriously id sell them as a service to our haloless friends who have lost or been robbed of them. i was thinking about 25 dollars each or 4 for 100 dollars. sounds good to me. ....oh by the way MR yankee fan are you rooting for the giants???? say it aint so....
Im confused, im not implying they designed them wrong. Im saying relative to the rest of the cars components the wheels will always create a significant portion of the overall drag no matter what car it is. other places include the side view mirrors and rear top of the car (due to the sloped back mirror) (which toyota decreased as much as they probably could)
Oops sorry. We were making different points. My point is that if the plastic rings did some good... then instead of adding those, why not make the wheels with that benefit in the first place. I agree that wheels can cause some nasty turbulance. A properly designed wheel minimizes this. On bicycles, for example, they use wing-shaped spokes instead of round. And in extreme cases (track) they make a competely solid wheel cover. Hell in cross winds!
I've got a '08 #7 Silver Touring. I've taken off the wheel rings and would like to get something for the axle in the center of the wheel. Anyone have any suggestions?
if toyota design and put all that money in the car the wheel caps wil be important for the airflow wy do this if not.
