Anybody found a way to clean the plastic kickguards at the bottom of the door openings? Seems they get stubbornly dirty between washes, and all the stuff I've tried - 409, Windex, Fantastic, etc. - fails to get the scuff marks completely off. Suggestions? Thanks, Geoff
Let's see, so far I think I've heard of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or something like that. Also, I have some Technician's Choice Workhorse All-Purpose Cleaner. Both seem to do great jobs on scuffs and marks. Check this thread: http://www.priuschat.com/forums/keeping-th...ean-vt4494.html
Hmmm... maybe my description could be better... I talking about the plastic strips that run the length of the door opening that you step across to get into the car. It's almost impossible not to kick those on the way in and out of the car, and they're already pretty scuffed up with dirt after just a couple of months. If yours are clean you have much better Prius hygiene than me or any of my passengers (the back seat ones are dirty too!), which could be very likely. Geoff
ah ok... i thought you were referring to the lower door panels. so you mean the black plastic runner things. ya i noticed that they do scuff easy. i try to avoid stepping on them and do a good job for the most part. but i just wipe em down and call it good. now the strip in front of the door that is color coded to the interior was a small problem but when i got my car fab protected and paint sealed my sister gave me a maintenance kit from Prestige Coatings. (its the system they use to detail cars and such) and it had spot remover that came with the kit and it worked just fine for that. also the kit comes with Fab protectant and vinly/leather protectant. clean inside throughly using cleaner. then use protectant on applicable surfaces and that makes cleaning a breeze.
Whether they get scuffed or not is related to how you get in and out of the car and how long your legs are. Sometimes, when I think of it, I stick my feet over the top onto the street without touching the plastic sill; most times, I can't avoid it because my legs are too long and I need the leverage. I've tried a variety of cleaners myself and nothing seems to work completely. I've been looking for some sort of rubberized strip with adhesive that could be put over the plastic and would wear without visible scuff marks. Virtually none of the sticky stuff will adhere to the plastic, however, so that'll be another problem.
Mine are in perfect shape because I don't touch them with my shoes. Once they are scartched there's little you can do short of buying new ones.
I'm 6'4'' and have the same problem. I just can't keep my feet off of the darned thing. Covering it with something is a good idea. I'll start looking around too. Geoff
