I am going to be purchasing a Prius this year and I have a question about the SKS. What happens if you start your car with the Fob in your pocket and then get out and go inside to get something, will the car shut off, is there some sort of range?
It continues running. If your key was in your pocket, and it fell out when you got in the car, the car would most likely start, and you'd be driving down the road, and the car wouldn't care. I believe a light comes on on the dash when the key goes out of range, also the car will beep a few times if its running, to let you know you forgot to turn it off
The other day, my son started the car before I took him to school. After I dropped him off I was about a mile from the school and noticed a dash light was on that I wasn't familiar with.... yep, he still had the key in his pocket.
lol!! ok, all jokes aside, this will be answered by several people, but another point to make, why we dont have a remote start OR shutdown capability from the fob, i have often wondered. i am going on my 5 th year driving Pri's and i cant begin to tell you how many times i got out of the car, and couldnt lock the door because it was still on. it would be REAL NICE, if there was a button on the fob that would shut it down instead of me having to open the door to shut it off... now before my son was born, it wasnt much of an issue, because i would be at drivers door. but now, he in back on passenger side. so now when i forget, i have to carry him around to the other side and turn off car, or put him down, reach in thru passenger side to turn it off... major pain
