Hey all, We just picked up our 08 seaside pearl touring last night. Traded in my wife's mazda5 (I thought about trading in my wrx, but she said I'd be miserable without it, bless her). We'll be sharing this one as a commuter since she works days and I work nights. We're gonna miss the sliding doors for our daughter, but 45 mpg will ease that. Anyway, just saying hi.
Welcome... Your location isn't specific, but in in the So Cal traffic, the Prius is the best commuter car ever
I hope this is done right. We are another very satisfied Prius owner. We also live in So. Cal. (Lakewood). Ours is a Silver Pine. It took a little getting used to and learning to get optimum performance. My wife drives it more than I do. She is on the second week of driving and currently getting 47+ mpg. Ed Rossier
Congrats on the new Prius. You and your wife made a wise decision and it will definitely payoff in the long term. Sounds like your 'wrx' may be a Sunday/weekend rider soon.
What dealer did you use? What was the price? I am willing to drive anywhere in the southland to avoid paying the $31K+ price for a #6 Pkg I am getting quoted in Santa Barbara.
Welcome mountjonas! Get ready to fall in love with your Prius and to fight your wife to drive it. Hey Ed... I'm in the process of moving back to Lakewood from Corona. If you see Trixie Blu driving by, be sure to wave and say hi! (Geez... I REALLY didn't mean to rhyme!)
We got it from Toyota Carlsbad. 27,9XX+fees&taxes. It was the last touring on their lot. Toyota of Escondido has a grey touring that they quoted me for 27,2XX+fees. We went with carlsbad because Aaron was the first to respond and went out of the way to make sure the deal was done right, no offense to Escondido. Also, my wife wanted the light interior. I commute from Temecula to North Hollywood mon through fri (crazy, i know), so this should work out. Next up is tint and I'm pretty sure no mods will go on this one. Thanks for the warm welcome.
So your OTD price was about what I am hearing. You paid $700 more for service? Wow you really appreciate good service. I may contact Escondido Toyota when I get my funds in order. I like bargains.
That and the color. The dark grey only comes with a dark interior and that's the one thing that my wife wanted to avoid. We bargained enough on the trade in and got more than what I wanted for it so we felt it justified not haggling on the price. And yeah, service goes a long way with me. He emailed me and called me multiple times with multiple cars and kept me up to date on everything, came in on his day off to finish the deal. Sure he's in sales, but I never felt pressured in any way. Sorry, no pics yet. We're enjoying driving it and getting all the tech stuff sorted out first. But it's your basic seaside pearl touring.
Hey, if your buying a car check out edmunds.com. I learned a ton about the tricks to buying a car and it gives you some very specific information on what the dealer's invoice is (their cost before incentives) and what your specific model with options is selling for on average. My wife suggested it and begrudgingly checked it out. Man, she was so right. If your interested read my posting on "Whaaa Whooo" I wrote way too much info but I really saved a ton and I am not really used to buying cars. I'm 43 and have only purchased 3 new cars in my life.
Congrats to the new SoCal Prius owners! For those of you still looking, I highly recommend Longo Toyota in El Monte. It's been nearly 2 years since my Prius purchase, but they did MSRP deals (at a time of $1-3K add-ons by other area dealers) and I'm sure you can find a great deal with them. I dealt with Heecher Yoon 213-422-5073 cell 626-580-1374 direct. Best of luck!
