We picked our new car up today...Ooh la la...as they say!! Although I was so nervous, I could barely take my eyes off the road to appreciate all the car has to offer! Big drive tomorrow...we'll take it out to lunch! One "slight" problem- the owner's manuel is in French - we ordered an English one but haven't received it yet...I can read French and will plough through ..just hope I don't make any crucial errors!!! It seems pretty straightforward and we did make it home... Such a nice car..I can't wait to feel at home driving it!!

I can read and speak French..it does make it easier when you live here!:) But English is easier ...especially anything technical. We bought a new one...as to models, I'm not sure if they are the same as in the states...all I know is Prius 110h Linea Sol MC..if that means anything to anybody?! It is dark gray with a metallic finish.

Félicitations! I've heard of "Linear Sol" but not "MC". I figured maybe you guys have one base vehicle with many packages (like North America) vs. different trim levels like the UK.

Cool! On the outside, it appears to be the equivalent of the US Touring edition, with Pkg number 5 or 6...In the pic's I can find online, it does not have a roof antenna, and has black oval lock buttons on the exterior door handles, instead of square ones. Nice subtle features.

    Welcome to PriusChat.

Re: Nouvelle Prius ...thanks to all!

Thanks to all for the help and advice..will post a picture soon. Drove it quite a while today- what a pleasure! Maybe this is a good time to admit that when I was researching the car and reading posts on this site, I thought you all were "a little over the top"[IMG] in your praise of the car....and now I have joined the ranks! I just love it ! I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow!!!!

A quick check of the site shows that you either have the "base" Prius (really, just one model hence linéa sol) or the 10th Anniversary Edition Prius.

    Hi
We have a 2005 Toyota Prius that we brought with us to France.
We are having all kinds of problems getting it registered here in France due to different wheel and tire size here in Europe.
Does anyone know why the wheels and tires on the European market are bigger than the US.
    Does anyone have any advice?
It would cost over 6000 Euros to buy new wheels and tires in addition to change the lights.

Any one know anything about bringing a car to France??

    Need help,

    Thanks

    Prius 110h mean 110 HP,
linea Sol is the base prius in france (which is a touring model we don't have standard prius model in France, no leather, basic radio 4HPs 1CD , no GPS no Bluetooth, no backup camera, no SKS... )

MC is for Minor Changes it defines the differences since end 2005 (dashboard's plastic is not the same, rear lights are not tinted, front lights are slightly differents etc... ).

Not only the wheels, the European prius is Touring model with stiffer suspension than the regular american one...
The handling we are used to in europe is of quite high level, it would be suicidal for toyota to try to sell us the base prius... and it would give a bad image of the car to customers...
The Prius already don't have the best image of handling because at high speeds on highways the car has issues to stay in line, and the car is quite affected by lateral winds...
I also recons that my VW Polo I had before the prius handles better at high speeds, I had real confidence in it and had no problem leavig the hands of the steering wheel at 130km/h on a windy road... not sure I would do this on the prius...
