I'm so sorry I didn't see this sooner to respond!
We had very high winds (Cat 1 hurricane), and lost power for four days. The temps were pretty mild, so we didn't suffer at all... managed to go through about 2/3 of our store of candles, and found our oil lamps.
It's perfectly possible to boil water on a camping stove to make french press coffee :)

Homes around us did suffer various amounts of damage. We did not. Not having any animal products in our fridge/freezer meant that we didn't suffer food losses, either! :)

    Thank you for asking :)

The pants were found, just not fast enough to suit him. He was a lawyer. And he ultimately lost. I guess he couldn't find enough nuissance suits so had to create his own.

No, the dry cleaners lost the judge's pants. He wanted to sue them for $10,000 I believe it was.

Oh, the story is much, much better than that. He sued for $67,000,000 (yes, sixty-seven MILLION) dollars. He lost, had to pay court fees, then lost his job as a lawyer.

Beating out contenders Michael Vick and that other lawyer who flew all over the place knowing he had TB, Mr. Pearson won the Washington Post's Idiot of the Year award.

Must have been nice pants, maybe they were part of a very high quality law suit.

I think it had something to do with the sign posted in the dry cleaner. Lawyer was trying to make a point. Turns out the point was on the top of his head keeping the dunce cap shapely.

I can picture it now: The judge sitting at his "bench" in court, wearing his robe and wig but no pants. The he realizes that the carpenters have removed the front panel of the bench for repairs, and everyone in the courtroom can see that he has no pants on. So he sues the dry cleaners. He loses the case because the jury feels that all judges should be required to preside in court without pants, so they will understand how criminal defendants feel.

I don't remember which of Isabel Allende's books it is; either Eva Luna or Cuentos de Eva Luna, in which this fat rich guy is too lazy to get up to go to the bathroom, so he has an office chair with a hole in it, and a chamber pot underneath, and he just does his business while doing business, as it were, sitting at his desk all day naked from the waist down. One of the servant girl's jobs is to empty the chamber pot. When she finally decides to quit, her last act on the job is to empty the chamber pot over his head. I recommend both books highly, though as I've never read the translations I don't know if the English versions are as good as the original Spanish. Some really fine books are dreadful in translation.

After reading one forums' moderators' reply, then something about Fred, and having seen a Fred icon, I switched over and there is this forum about moderation. I never realized one could get reprimanded but then I didn't think one had anything nasty to say, or, at least, would send it. As one person mentioned, we haven't really advanced too far since (can I say this?) we evolved from battling for the best forage.
We are only talking about cars. Down South there is (was) two sides: Chevys and Fords. But always friendly. We just raced each other.

Personally, we should repect each others' different personalities. Some of those may clash with our mindset, but we don't have to read their threads when we see a name that pushes our triggers. People today are more themselves than when I graduated from hi school in '62; everybody had to fit in with everyone else or you were castigated.
