Picked up my car last night. It's a 2008 Magnetic Gray Prius Touring Package #6 and got a 7yr 100k mi on it for a good price. Was nice haveing 1mi on the car when I picked it up. Still haven't played with the voice commands and it is a different driving style comeing from my 2002 Acura RSX Type S but not so different than how I drive in my 04 Honda Element. I was loveing it though last night talking to the lady finishing up our paperwork. She kept trying to show me all these add on items warranty and scotch guard and under coating and blah blah blah... I just laughed at her and asked her if she ever saw how they applied those items. I told her I know alot of people that work at their Honda dealership and a baby could apply those extra's better. But yet she kept trying to assure me thats not how it was, oh but I know techs at this dealership too so I didn't care. I will have to say though I'm loveing the car. Can already notice that I'm not sucking down as much gas as when I drive my element and the ride is alot smoother. Still need to read the owners manual and learn exactly how to use the "B" Mode on the Trans.
The short answer is not to Do some searching on hear and you will find all the details. Welcome to the club! Rob
Good on ya Darkamek, sounds like you did very well. As miscrms said, don't use B mode. Well you can use it but only to control your speed on very long steep hills. It doesn't add to regen as much as light braking would so if you never descend a 2 mile 11% grade or worse you never need B. I use it for the last 1/3 of a steep hill because I know the battery will be full and dumping power by spinning the ICE at the bottom of the hill so I do it manually with B mode. Enjoy
1 mile on the odo is practically very very new. I had 64 miles on the odo, when I picked up my Prius. Congrats on the new ride and have fun saving lots of gas.
My Prius had 2 miles on the ODO when I picked it up. I believe that anytime you pick up a new vehicle, it should have less than 10 miles on the ODO. The only acceptable reason for more is if there was a "dealer trade" and the car had to be driven from one dealership to another.
Think of it as a way to waste energy. It is the B position on the gear shift. Use it only on very long down hill runs where the battery will be fully charged before you reach the bottom. You don't have to use it at all, the car will dump energy to protect the battery if needed with no input from you. Just use the brakes to control speed down hills, it regens to slow the car unless the battery is full.
i am interested in getting an extended warranty b4 my 36 month expires, did you get it from priuschat? how much was it?
I actually got them to price match it for $990. The lady was kind of ticked off about matching but eh. I didn't have to tell her about the site or anything. All I had to do was take out my iphone and just show her the part of the email that said 7yr's 100k miles and the price that said $990 and she matched it.
