    Mileage query:

    When I first got my car mid-August in Florida, high air conditioning use I was getting 51-53 MPG. Now, 2000 miles later in November, hardly any AC, and I am hovering around 46-47 MPG.

    Why? I would have thought it would be the other way around.

    Seriously, I just don't bother posting here any more since my single tanks have little meaning....other than as an indirect indicator of the weather.

    Today's fill suffered from both pump-difference & bladder-effect. So I got a gallon less in there than I normally would have. It won't be until the end of the month before I'll be able to draw a decent conclusion about a November MPG average. Sorry.

    So far, so great for me in November! I got the car at the end of Feb - so if my mileage can stay here for 9 months out of the year, I'll take it!

    Car MPG: 52.1
    Gals filled: 11.271
    Miles over blinking gauge: 49.0

    I could've filled more, suprisingly, but there was a car behind me waiting, and I didn't want to upset him with too much babying of the bladder.

    The last time I filled less than 11 gallons in the tank was 8/14. The last time I got in less than 10 was in May, filling up before a road trip. :)

    New pumps (better nozzles) at the gas station nearest my house.

    Tank Miles: 338.4 (not a typo, somehow same as last tank!)
    Total Miles: 2897
    Tank MPG: 48.2
    Lifetime MPG: 46.34
    Avg Temp: 50s
    Price of Tank: $14
    Price per Gal: $1.95

    Less expressway driving than before, and it shows.

    I put what will be my last tank of fuel for the month of November in on the way home from work last night. My monthly stats:


    Tank Miles: 1,484.3
    Overall Miles: ~32,000
    Avg Tank Mileage: 494.7
    Avg Overall Mileage: 47.6 calculated
    Avg Temperature: 30's to 80's
    Price per Tank: ~$20
    Avg Price per Gallon: 1.87

    Brand new (one week) owner. Yes I filled up early, I wanted to see what the MPG was in comparison to the calculation shown in the computer. We have been going back and forth with rain and sun but the temp has remained constant.

    Fillup to the brim: 4.2 gallons
    Avg Tank Mileage: 50.2
    Avg Overall Mileage: 50.2
    Avg shown by computer: 43.2
    Avg Temperature: 50
    Price per Tank:

    This tank ran mostly back and forth to work (17 mixed miles each way) and one trip for Thanksgiving. We'll see if it holds up.

    Somehow this ended up being my highest miles driven month yet (1662). Probably a combo of starting to count November at the time of my last fill up in Oct.--th 25th, and a trip out of town of a couple hundred miles.

    4 Tanks, 31.322 gallons, overall MPG for the month was an amazing 53.1mpg !! And that was with 1 sub-50mpg tank (47.7 calc). Temps have varied, but it's been a pretty wet cool month with some 'snowflake' weather but some days in the high 60s. Typical Ozarks weather.

    That compares to a year ago, my first full month of ownership, at 45.2mpg (2 tanks, 764 miles).

    My lifetime MPG remains at 50.9mpg over ~15k miles (it was almost 51mpg, but I had to be honest in my rounding).

    Wow, the Thanksgiving trip killed my mileage - in fact, because of this once a year trip, my lifetime mileage dropped .3 mpgs! The total trip is around 1100-1200 miles, and half of that is with loads of weight in presents and leftovers.

    11/24 - 520 Tmiles, 10.349Gals, 50.8 Car MPG
    11/27 - 522 Tmiles, 11.17Gals, 48.4 Car MPG
    11/28 - 439 Tmiles, 10.095Gals, 43.8 Car MPG(!)

    Total monthly figures:

    2621 miles, 54.258 gallons, car avg of 49.7 MPG, which isn't my highest travelled month, nor my lowest monthly MPG. Closing fast on 20k - technically just passed it, as my current ODO is about 688 miles behind the car's mileage. (the figure below is my estimated real world miles as of the last fillup)

    This encompasses two fill-ups. The first (11/11) was far short of "full" since it was the first time I bought gas for the car and did not understand the "pump-click-pump-click-pump-click" Prius-owner mantra. [Indicator fell to 9 bars only 42 miles after the fill-up, compared to 121 miles after I took delivery from the dealer].

    Note that the two tanks combined closely match the MFD fuel average:

    46.3 MPG was last year's November average. But that included a lot of break-in weirdness. It was considerably colder & snowier too. So I shy away from direct comparisons.

    44.6 MPG was the 3-year November for my Classic. That tends to provide a decent sense of average for the month. So realistically (taking the tire difference into account), it's fairly safe saying there's a 5 MPG difference.
