    hello all,

i bought an 05 prius about a week ago, and i found this place and had to say hello!

i have many other cars, but this on is right at the top of them all as far as a fun car to drive!

i bought this car for a work car for the most part, but found myself driving it all the time while i was at home (i work out of the country).

i have done alot of reading on here in the last few days, and have most of my questions answered already from the great threads on here.

i dont really know what package i have (if any).
it is a white 05 with 22k miles on it (which i only gave 15k for:D).
it has no jbl system, no nav (i have one), no bluetooth, no back-up cam.

it has fllormats, curtain airbags, i dont know about seat airbags, cloth seats, cruise control.

the car was owned by a 70 year old man and his wife. i guess it was to high tech for his wife, so they wanted to buy something else. i think i got it for a steal!

i have found some things that i want to buy, but i have to figure things about my car out first.

i know i want the okely (sp?) seat covers, but i dont know if i have the airbag in the seat yet (have to wait till i get back home to see). and i dont know what the split is in the rear seats (60/40?).

i want the bluetooth for my phone, but i am still looking into which one will be the best. i am not really worried about price as i am worried about it working the best. i have found some units on here that i am looking into.

as far as the nav. goes, i have a garman nuvi 350 that works just fine.

i want the ipod hook-up, but i am still looking into it also. have found a couple on here that i am looking at.

i do have a question though,

if i dont have nav. and i want to hook up video (ex dvd), is it possible? i would like to use the screen that is already there instead of having to mount another somewhere.

anyway, i look forward to getting to know you guys, and getting to know this car!

Congrats on the car. With only 22k, I think you got a nice deal.

You can google 2005 pakages and then see which of those you have. If you have seat airbags, the driver and front passenger seats should have a little cloth sticking out on the side. i.e. When you are on the driver's seat, look over your left shoulder. I think if you have side airbags, you should have seat airbags also.

You cannot watch DVD's with rhe screen

The rear seat split is 60/40.

    Welcome to PC. :)

oh i see, the screens are not the same. i guess i will just build a mount for my umpc and be happy with that then...lol. thanks!

as for the seats, i just learned of the side airbags while i was at work. i will check them out when i get home. i wish i would have checked before so i could have the covers sitting at the house when i got there.

i will buy the dash cover and the wheel cover now though, that will give me something to play with when i get home.

I believe these are the seat covers to which you are referring: http://www.wetokole.com/PRIUSF.html

and don't feel bad about not having the back-up camera; it was not available in 2005.

Sounds as if you got a great deal, congrats and enjoy your nearly new Prius :D

ya, that is the ones i am going to buy. i am just going to go solid black with the half piping. i saw it on someones car on here, and i like it.

i am going to go ahead and get the dash mat also in black suede from dashtoppers.

as for the camera, i am fine without it.

out of all the options, the only one i really want it the bluetooth, but i can get aftermarket and will be just fine.

as far as the outside of the car goes, i am happy with it. i just want to do some things to the inside to make it a little more user friendly, and look a little better.

If they didn't come with the car buy copies of both the owner's manual and scheduled maintenance guide, either online or from a dealer. Reading and following them will save you trouble and money.

Not without additional HW at least. There are two ways I know of to get a video source up on the built in screen (MFD).

    1) I believe Coastal Tech makes a convert that will put a video input on an 04-05 built in display. I would guess its the "Ultimate Lockpick 1" but you'd want to check. There may be a cheaper one that doesn't inlcude all the NAV/BT features.
    2004 - 2005* Prius

    2) CAN-View. This is probably overkill if you just need a video input, but cool if you want visibility into what the car is really doing.

    Anybody know of any others?

BTW Welcome! You definitely got a good deal, I paid about the same for a salvage w/ same miles!

yes, i have been trying to contact coastal tech thru emails and phone calls, but thru reading on here (and now with my own experiance), i have found they are very hard to get in touch with.

i will keep trying! thanks for the great info and links!

btw, thanks for all the welcomes. i am very good with motors (spare time hobby), and i hope once i figure the prius setup, i will be of some help to others on here.
