Just bought a new 2008 Prius. One of the questions we have is this - say we ran out of gas, how far would the car continue on a full battery charge? Thanks
Based on recent experience, about 3/4 of a mile on the freeway (just enough to get off at the next exit.)
Don't do it. Drive just far enough to get off the road and park it. It's just not worth the risk and potential problems. Better yet, don't run out of gas. Repeat after me: "I will fill up before one bar, I will fill up before one bar, ..." Tom
Yeah, I'm getting that feeling! Was at 2 bars for a while last night then refilled and it only took 9.3 gallons.
The answer is: Don't drive your car when it doesn't have gas. Is replacing a 3000$ battery worth the walk? Granted, it really depends on how much you drain the battery... but why take the risk?
