Hello, I am a n00b. I am a proud owner of a 2008 Prius. (hey, I execute New years resolutions) I love modding up stuff and I have been reading the wealth of information available here and at other places. What do you recommend first? Mine is: Black and Tan. Option 6. Wheels.
hi! Welcome to PriusChat and congrats on your new car! What vagabond said, what are you interested in?
thanks. You know... right about now I wish I qualified my post a bit better. I want to do some little mods like the block heater (which I read about and will order shortly). I am really aimless here. What is the hot button mod? I mean eventually I can see myself putting together a battery pack and plug in mod, so I'd like to work in that direction.
if you have a lot of patience, buy the sharkfin and mudguards @ pc shop. its almost a month now, im not getting any... hope worth the wait
another newbie, similar topic... The Prius is my wife's so I don't have total freedom in what we do here. First I want to do the mud guards. I'm surprised the factory doesn't put them on. Question: do you drill into the metal fendor to attach them? I would hesitate to do so, but I believe I saw some indication that you do not. Is there a practical reason to do the shark fin? I would do it for the looks, but I would like to point to some practical advantage - automatic car wash issues? thanks, Jim
I don't think there are car wash issues with the shark fin. Okay, I have a block heater on the way. The dealer put the license plate holder on the front bumper... with screws right into the bumper plastic (eeeh gats!) Anyhow, they did not put it all on tight so it would rattle around and the plate was also not tight. (Wth? They can't find someone to turn a screw?) That aside are all the front license plates attached like that?
I am A newbe also. I got home from the dealer and ordered the splash guards and the color coded side mouldings. It will be in parking lots and I do what to protect the sides as best I can, and at dealer delivery just driving from the washing area to me for pickup and going though a small puddle showed me the need for the flaps, all 4 wheels slashed the sides.
If yu are interested in fuel economy, a Scan Gauge would be at the top of the list. Having more readouts helps know what the engine is doing so you can tweak your driving. For handling, better tires (get them immediately so you can trade the Integrities in) in a slightly larger size (195). Shark fin antenna will give you poorer reception, esp. in marginal reception areas. The rear bumper guard if you put stuff like bicycles into the hatch. Cool graphics. Be imaginative. Death to Boring Monochromes!!
