Hi: Believe this. I received a call from the salesman from James Toyota in Moses Lake, WA, from whom I got my car, thanking me for my patronage and for referring some of you to his dealership. I can't tell you all how refreshing it was to deal with these guys. You know, when I walk into a car salesroom (not all that often) I always feel like a rabbit crossing a football field....alert, eyes open, and just slightly defensive knowing that someone will handshake me and smile and try to sell me half again what I need for twice the price. I had a hard time believing the guys at James Toyota when I first called about the Prius. In the week or so between the time I made my deposit over the phone and the time I drove up and saw it on the lot, I kept thinking that something could happen: they could sell the car out from under me to someone paying more than MSRP; they could dream up some additional charges they "forgot about", etc. Instead, they came out of the office laughing like kids and telling me about Xo Larimer picking up his white 9 the night before and how happy they were for the business. The salesman drove out to the Moses Lake airport to pick up Xo and bring him back to get his car. I didn't expect this part of the sale to be that much fun, but they were like kids showing me the features and gadgets. I told them about some of the dealers over here that I've encountered, and the sales manager said that those kinds of practices, while common, only hurt a dealer in the long run because of the negative advertising. I encourage any of you on the list to call these guys because they are getting Prii on a reasonably regular basis, and many of them are unclaimed. They know about this chatline. James Toyota E. 507 3rd Avenue Moses Lake, WA 98837 509-765-4517 ask for Steve Garcia or Dave Sawyer mention Bob Allen too, thanks. Hugs, Bob p.s. Moses Lake is about 180 miles east of Seattle in beautiful high desert country. The drive over and back is scenic and fun. It takes about 3 hours to drive your new Prius back to Seattle. You can get there by bus and plane as well. A bit out of the way, which is probably why there are Prii over there.
I certainly hope they are as good as you say. After calling yesterday to inquire about a prius, they called back this morning with one that met my needs "hot off the truck". I'm heading out there bright and early tomorrow morning to pick it up. They quoted MSRP with no add-ons. I don't expect to be unhappily surprised, but it's a 3 hour drive each way! Here's hopin'. I'll let you know how it goes. BTW, in the interest of fair play, they did say that Bob (or anyone) nets $50 for sales referrals.
I picked up a Driftwood #5 March 27th at James, too. How do they get so many? They said this was the third they sold this week; one was going to New York! FYI Steve is no longer with them. I spoke to Dave Sawyer and Victor was my salesguy. They were a pleasure to work with. I gave them my deposit over the phone, they faxed me the info on price (at MSRP!), we ironed out the details, drove up the next day with a check, drove home with a Prius!

I second (or forth) all of the above. Though...I don't think they expected someone as crazy as me! Steve was staring blankly at the passengers getting off the plane. I guess Mr. Roarke should have been there to introduce me. I met him outside of the very quiet airport while trying to get cell phone coverage. They are becoming quite the Prius experts now by now though. The car was clean as a button when I got it and it has been a dream since... Xo Larimer, '04 Super White BC
