Motorola v710

I've had my VA710 now for over 3 months and for the most part I have been very happy with it.I was originally disappointed with the two shortcomings
1. No audible ring on incoming calls while connected to Prius
2Not being able to tranfer the V710 phonebook to the Prius phonebook.

The truth is the phone itself is quite good as far as reception ,clarity , speakerphone, voice recognition and lots of other nicities. Battery life is very good and I would definitely recommend it. It connects and works well with the Prius. I now have gotten use to the ring problem as most of the time if you are playing your radio or CD, you will notice the incoming call on the display and be alerted to it by the audio cutoff of the radio or CD.Also I do not find the phone book tranfer problem to be a major issue as you can load up to 18 phone numbers into the Prius One touch dial
system. You can also make any outgoing call thru the Prius by manually dialing out from the V710. Also it is "rumored" that there will be a fix available from Verizon for the two problems mentioned.
Again I stress that I have been quite satisfied with the V710 and it's performance has not been a disappointment. Good Luck with whatever phone you choose

Here's the answers
1. I haven't experienced any dropped calls. I don't get that many calls so it's possible that two people haven't called me at the same time. I'm really not sure.
2, You can set the prius to automatically answer calls but it may take a few rings which you don't hear before it picks up . I have mine set that way but I usually see the incoming call alert on the display and immediately hit the pickup button on the steering wheel. This works fine for me. If you want to be able to not answer, don't set the auto pickup and ignore the incoming call alert. This should result in the v710 switching to the message and you should get a voice mail message from the caller.
3. I just got my flash media card and haven't yet tried to transfer pics from the phone to my hard drive or from my pc to the phone card. I understand this is fairly easy to do . You may want to go to www.phonescoop.com, find the V 710 forum and learn how. One guy has actually transferred a move to the card and played it with sound through the V710 phone. Pretty Cool !!

I've been transferring midi files for use as ringtones with a transflash card. Pretty easy. Transflash shows up as a window on your computer, drag a file into it, put the transflash into the phone (some say not to hot swap), go to sounds and use the main menu to change storage devices to see and play the file. Move the file to the phone. I've only been doing sound but I expect other media to work just as easily.

Be careful using a Transflash card with a Mac (as I do) the mac will put invisable files on the card that the phone hates.

Otherwise I've put jpegs, mp3s and 3gp (movies) on the phone through the card. It's pretty amazing.

 

I had to have my Motorla V710 checked at the Verizon shop last week and they knew nothing about a fix for the Prius problem.In the past, I've had a devil of a time getting through to Motorola, but I may try again. The bluetooth feature works well, except for the ring-tone and the inability to transfer the phone book to the car. Ring-tone isn't a problem because my audio is always on and my signal that a call is coming in is when the audio goes off. But the phonebook feature would be very useful and I'm irked at Verizon because they don't seem to care.
