Is there a list as to what wheels /rims will fit an 07 prius? I am looking at getting snow tires and would like to buy a used set of rims. any help would be appreciated. thanks
These wheels are interchangeable (within reason): Toyota Scion TC ALL Toyota Corolla CE, LE, S 03-07 Toyota Matrix Toyota Prius 04-07 Pontiac Vibe
Just be aware that some rim/tire combos are substantially heavier than your stock setup and will negatively affect your gas milage. Combined with cold weather and snow tires you could see a pretty drastic drop in MPG unless you are a skilled hypermiler. Even then your milage will be less than your normal best. Another option is to buy a set of lightweight aftermaket wheels as your main wheels and use the stockers for winter driving.
Per the original post, the need is apparently for cheap steelies for snow tires. I would look for a set of steelies off a late-model Corolla/Matrix/Vibe at a local salvage yard. Even if not scratched up, a couple hours spent sanding, painting, and adding a thick coat of shiny polyurethane does wonders. Add a set of chrome lug nuts for the final touch. Usually about $100 total for everything. Works well for me. I recommend putting safety well above fuel economy where nasty winter weather is a concern.
I got that part but with snow tires and the cold temps AND heavy wheels he might as well be driving a Chevy Aveo for the MPG he'll see. lol Better to put snow tires on a set of stock wheels and floss the nice wheels when the temps are good hehe
Thanks for the replies , both answers are great. I do put the safety first and looks & mpg second. I picked up 4 Michelin Arctic Alpins for 100.00 new old stock, now need the extra rims. Will call a few Jy's today again thanks much Craig
there are a lot of tires that will fit. first off, the prius uses a 5 x 100 lug pattern. the standard rims and tires are fairly light, so keep that in mind. i'm currently running 215/40/17s (or was it 45/17...) but they are heavy. it's awesome for my agressive driving (the grip) but bad on heavy bumps and they don't steer as fast as i would like.. again.. a weight problem. google search for tire fit guide. you should be able to find a few "calculators" that will tell you your tires diameter compaired to "x" demension of the new tire.. giving you the overall size compapirison, revolutions per mile, etc. 215 is the about the widest you can go on the prius. i would say 17 is the largest. you can go larger but the diamater of the tire will change on anything larger than 17. with my heavy rims and tires, i average around 36mpg...
Through more research today , I found that 2001-2007 Toyota Celica will also fit the prius. the problem is I can't find any cheap enough. I have the snow tires they are 195/65r/15 Michelin Arctic Alpin just need to find some inexpensive scratched up rims for more winter abuse.
Nexo wheels for the Corolla will fit, do not look bad, and are cheaper than the Corolla stock wheels. Available at Wheelmax.com
