I'm wondering if anyone has tried using the Coastaltech Lockpick to unlock the nav on a 2008 Prius. It should work, but I don't want to plunk down the cash until it's been tested. I've done a search and haven't found any reports, yet.
I asked Coastaltech via email last month and they said "Please check back in a couple of weeks". I haven't checked into it since then, but I am still interested in allowing (ahem, my passenger) use of the Navigation, Audio, and Phone buttons while driving. Anyone tried this or gotten confirmation? <btw, this should probably be in the mods or audio/electronics forum instead of the main!>
Lockpick 08 Prius The site's homepage now shows 2006-2008, when you click on the link though it says 2006-2007, and the checkout has 2006-2007. I emailed them to get clarification, but I am guessing it will work, however they have not updated the other pages. I am not going to chance it though .
What does this do to your new car warranty? I am about 85 miles from Coastaltech in Florida. I too would like to add this mod, but I am afraid of two things. One is my reluctance in taking apart the dash to accomplish the task and maybe more importantly, what ramifications would there be to the warranty?
Don't hold your breath I too sent numerous emails to costal, all of which went unanswered. I finally called them on the phone to get my questions answered. I think they have some technical issues with their email. Their website definitely needs some attention. They seem to update the main page but probably do not realize that the shopping cart still reflects the old model years. I was inquiring about the towing hitch which also states that it is available for the 2008, yet when you get to the checkout cart, it only shows that it is for up to the 2007 models. Maybe if enough people call them and tell them about their website experience they will hire someone to maintain their web presance.
I talked to Coastaltech today and they confirmed the Lockpick now works with the 2008. I ordered it and I already got my tracking number
Well, I just received mine and IT WILL NOT WORK. Apparently recent 2008's with ver 7.1 Nav have changed. My car is about 1 month old.
My Prius will be two weeks tomorrow. I have ver 7.1 Nav and I installed the basic Lockpick 3 under the seat. I am waiting to install the dash part when I have the XM radio upgrade installed. (let those installers put the rest of the lockpick in.) However the basic seems to work fine. It unlocks the NAv when I touch the pin.
I have a 3 week old 2008 with a CoastalTech Lockpick 3+ installed (by moi). The nav works while in motion, but my car has a habit of making me repeat a number I want to dial until I push the off-hook button. That probably has nothing to do with the pick. ZC1
Just hung up with CT, they say the Ultimate lockpick 3 WILL work "no matter what nav version"! I asked again more specifically about the brand new 08's, stating reports of non compatibility. She (person who answered) checked with the technician a 2nd time and answered the same. CT says it WILL/SHOULD work!!! Hmmmmm? Thoughts?
Had my Lockpick 3 installed today while the XM Radio was installed. Seems to work fine. Tried it with my iphone and the video was working.
. cool. Glad to hear it's working for you. Any pics? I'm wondering where the video input plugs are. I received confirmation from CT ultimate lockpick 3 WILL work on a 2008 no matter what nav version and while in-motion .
