With gas prices rising the way they are, I modified my mileage spreadsheet to calculate what it would cost me to drive the same distance in a gas guzzling SUV. A nice 15MPG ford expedition would have cost me an extra $100 so far...AND THAT'S AFTER 2 TANKS OF GAS!!! For those of you that shelled out 20+K for your Prius and are wondering about the payback, calculate based on your previous cars' MPG and you can get an idea how much that old clunker was really costing you.
I've started doing this also. I had originally figured that i'd probably save about $900 a year vs. my old Ford Ranger. Not to shabby!
