I own a Prius since Christmas 2004, and I drove about 12000 kilometers. My Prius is great. I just complain that Toyota did not made available cruise control in Italy.
I would like to exchange opinions with other italian Prius owners.
    Regards
    Claudio

I own the Prius since last Sept. 19, just drove 1200 km and feel very well and satisfied.
As you told, the only complain is the Cruise Control, not present in Italy.
With the internet chat help I also succeeded in transferring the telepone directory from my Motorola A1000 and this is very usefll too.
Now I am waiting for the possible recall from Toyota (they say that more tha 160000 Prius will be recalled around the world) to correct a software bug and a connector problem.: did you hear about it?

I know of at least one owner from Italy that went to France to buy the Prius just to get the cruise control...

But since then the parts list for the NHW20R cruise control have been posted, so you can add it if you really miss it. See the files section of http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Prius-Europe/

But you'll meet more Italian owners here: http://it.groups.yahoo.com/group/prius/

WHERE in Italy? Why confine yourself to opinions of other Italians?

Unfortunately the it.groups.prius does not exist anymore.... :(

But the good news is that there is a new forum for Italian owners which can be found at www.hybrid-synergy.eu and any Italian speaking member is welcome!

Tell me - how is the Prius to drive on the Autopista or Autoroute. I like to drive 140-150. Is it noisy? is it sluggish?

Many thanks for any insight before i buy my first Prius.

In Italy it is autostrade. :D

The Prius is nor noisy nor sluggish. In can happily keep a speed of 150-160 km/h at roughly 3300 rpm and deliver an astonoshing 5,9 l*100 km after 800 km at that pace.

That is better than the diesel I had before!

An old thread, but I found it so thought I'd add to it instead of making my own. I own a 2008 prius, and recently took it with me when I moved to Italy (Napoli). Since as far as I've seen in 5 months I'm the ONLY Prius driver on the road here, I'm worried that I won't be able to find a mechanic who won't look at me cross-eyed when I need maintenance or (hopefully not) repair. Any advice on finding a qualified mechanic it Italy, preferably in Naples?

When doing maintenance, ask for Full-Synth 5W40, They usually give 10W40 Semisynth. Then do maintenance every 10.000 miles, cause that oil is GOOD. :)
