Do you have a description of this procedure? There was another on posted on this board that sounded a bit more complicated.
The modification starts with using the procedure reported here before to make the fog lamps work independantly from the headlamps. It starts by opening the relay box under the hood. The fog lamps are controlled by a relay and the coil of the relay gets powered from the headlamp switch circuit. In the published mod, you disconnect the headlamp circuit power source and connect the relay wire to another purple wire on the next relay over, that is powered all the time the ignition is on. That allows the fog lamp relay to trigger if it's ground circuit can be completed. The rest of the modification published requires that you go under the steering column and change the ground circuit so the column switch now works independantly of the headlamp switch. In my version, I did not go under the steering column, but I simply added a ground wire to the other side of the relay coil under the hood, so the coil can activate whenever the ignition power is on. The main power to the lamps is present all the time, it's just getting the relay to trigger that is the challenge. Now the relay triggers whenever the ignition is on, whether the car is moving or not. It does not go off with the parking brake however as that would take more wires. When I get home tonight I'll take some photos of how I did it and post them along with the instructions I used. I want to make sure I credit the original author of the mod. I just added the ground wire variation to it. It seems like a no-risk deal as it completely bypasses the rest of the system and can't be accidentally shut off from the steering column, so would think it is legal as DRL.
