Flashing dashboard... what does it mean?

Yesterday when I started my Prius the whole dashboard flashed for a brief period of time. Even the speedomter digits flashed. What does that mean? That car worked fine and I had no problems. It was the first time I started the car in cold weather as I could not use my engine block heater that night. Any clues as to what was going on?

    Thanks!

Can you give us a little more information? What year and how long you have owned it, for example.

I don't know many more things that could be of interest. The tank was half full and the battery not completely drained. The car just started fine. It was as if the flashing meant "hey dude, this night was some cold...brrr". :)
    Thanks!

Are you sure you haven't seen it before? When you start, the dash lights all light during the normal "system" check.

This was different. It was all the green lights (tranmission, speedometer etc) that flashed with like with a frequency of about 1 Hz. Not the small colored lights for VSC and so on. Normally, I think, when I start the speedometer turns on steady green right away... gotta check again to make sure.. LOL

The green VFD display will go out if you turn down the panel dimmer, but that shouldn't make them flash.

I know. I just have to see if it happens again and make sure I pay more attention to the details.

    Thanks again!
