I was wondering the same before we got our 58", but we just went with the recommended. Advantage of the 58" is that you can probably carry an extra bike!

17 miles on my new Prius. Purchased it earlier today. I'm a whitewater kayaker, looking for the best rack system. I'm coming from a Subaru Outback, where I had a Yakima system installed permanently. On the Prius I would like a system I can remove and install quickly and easily (the Yakima system is a little labor intensive for how often I anticipate taking them off and re-installing, and I'm scared about scratching my beautiful car). Sounds from this forum that the Saris system is probably the best for what I want (if I can find them on-line). My question is this, does the Saris system have a vertical "stacker" bar that allows me to stack kayaks on their sides, thus fitting more kayaks on the racks and avoiding crunching the antenna? Or is there a retrofit I can do using my Yakima stacker for the Saris crossbars? Any tips or hints would be great. Thanks!

As Toyota recommend against using roof racks on Prius I doubt they did anything to make mounting roof racks easy.

Not to brag or anything , but it still only takes me 45 seconds to go from racks to no racks, or vice versa. No screws to loosen, no clips to fumble with, no pads to make sure are aligned, and no scratched paint. Now that's a solid return on rackage!

    Hello darelldd,
I noticed in your wonderful post on yakima racks for Prius you mention both front and back the Q clips as Q124 yet the Yakima homepage says to use Q5 for the front rack and Q124 clips for the back. I havn't called Yakima as of yet but could you verify that you used Q124 on both racks?
