What do you do for a living?

I selected "Retired", though that isn't exactly what I am.
I recently left the "Technology" field, where I was in content management (Knowledge Engineer).
Now, I'm a Student of Life, and am working hard at minimizing my economic/environmental impact. More organic food, more home cooking, less consumer items, less shopping, less driving altogether, etc.
I can foresee my re-entering the workforce at some point in the future, probably more local, perhaps part time, but for now, I'm developing my spiritual side, and working towards my 2nd Degree Clergy status with the tradition I'm a part of.

 

I am an instrument and control techmecian at a large nuclear power plant in Texas. B)

 

I'm a community psychiatrist, beginning to learn about "learning organizations".

 

I checked "retired" and have been for 2 years. For 34 years I was in pharmaceutical sales. This was a great job in the 70's through the early 90's. Then the industry went wacko hiring reps. It went from 22,000 nation wide (USA) to over 90,000 and the reps are literally tripping over each other in the offices of "high decile" (read high prescribing) doctors.

Now I am enjoying life and looking to lessen my impact on the use of foreign petroleum and my impact on the environment. I have changed out 27 of the most used bulbs in my house to CFL's. I am looking seriously at Prius for my next vehicle. I have gotten some good answers to a few questions already on this site. Thanks to all.

Edit: Four months later, you can see my Gray Ghost, obtained in Feb. 48.5 MPG on two tanks so far.

Is the Real estate "Web Stuff" market booming, like the housing market?

 

I'm a union stagehand. It's a little bit of the arts and a little bit of technology and a lot of hard work. I specialize in repairing broken gear but I typically find myself doing whatever needs to be done.

 

Although my job is to operate broadcast equipment - which is a techmology field, I chose entertainment.

As for the porno stars, they look nice on camera...and off camera as well!!! Whoo Hoooo!

 

I don't know if this counts as a real job; I am a 5th year grad student in biophysics at the University of Michigan. :mellow:

I am hoping to becomg a consultant when I grow up.

i guess it's kind of a cross between education, medical and techmology and that applies to both of us, though we have vastly different things going on!

I was hoping to see "childcare" or something of that nature, yet "education" will do, yet it is I who is learning everyday... I am the owner/director of a licensed group family daycare home for over 20 years!

 

Federal Law Enforcement.

 

Computer programming.

 

Case manager for mental health agency. Which means I drive around all day seeing our clients at their homes (and with the Prius, I come out way ahead on my milage reimbursement).
Oh, and rescuer of Miniature Schnauzers, though it's not work that I'm monetarily paid for.

 

networking for various offices, mainly dental. I used to bartend for a couple of years, thinking of getting back into that..the money is better

 

I am a Helicopter Technical Inspector with the US Army, Staff Sergeant with 10 years in service, however I'm leaving the service next month to go back to college and finish my bachelor's
