Mercedes-Benz Canada offers two smart models : a coupe and a convertible. The former is available in two trim levels, called "Pure" and "Passion", while the latter only comes in "Passion" trim -- a wise decision considering it's a true made-for-fun car. Every smart sold in Canada offers lots of interesting standard features, including AM/FM/CD stereo, power windows and remote entry. The Pure model is a stripped-down car and, when you start to add a couple of options like power steering and climate control, you come awfully close to the Passion model's price. As far as I'm concerned, the Passion coupe offers the best value at $18,250. It comes standard with alloy wheels, climate control, heated seats, power mirrors and a premium audio system. The only option that every buyer should absolutely select, in my mind, is the Dashboard Instruments Package with analog clock and rev counter; at $160, it's a must. Please refer to my comments on the automatic transmission. Full Article
Have you seen the Consumer Reports review of the Smart Fortwo? It's hilarious. After their less-than-complimentary description of its transmission, acceleration, and all-round noisiness, they point out that the Prius is bigger, faster, and more fuel efficient.
