You are not "supposed" to know your engine temp. Toyota does not want you to know. Toyota feels that you do not need to know. If your engine overheats, a warning will appear telling you to stop driving immediately. But if you want to know, then Evan and David, above, have answered your question. Also worth noting that a properly-functioning Prius will never overheat the engine. The car is very smart, and the small engine gets very little stress, due to the functioning of the hybrid system. So there's really no need to worry about engine temp.

Using Scan Gauge (and a blocked grill) I range between 180 and 200 F. Mostly its about 190 or so...200 is pretty rare....even on my last trip where I drove about 2 hr non stop at highway speeds between 70 and 75.
