I'd also speculate that there just aren't that many hybrids on the second hand market compared with the other cars. Gee, after 5 years a used Prius has dropped from 47% to 42% of the original market value. (and a regular car is worth what after 5 years?) Thanks, but I still think I'll be way ahead.
"Projected" resale value. And lumping all hybrids together is a bit like lumping together burgers made from veggies, ground turkey, and angus.

article is TOTAL CRAP. or maybe we should ask insurance companies and how they compute resale or "replacement value"... case in point (told many times before) i bought a 2004 pak 1 Prius, paid $22,300 something. drove it 25 months, put nearly 30,000 miles on it. was totaled. the other insurance company paid for my rental for 3½ weeks then cut me a check for $23,509.80 how is that for resale?? btw, this happened 14 months ago when the gas was much cheaper and Priuses were waaay more plentiful reason why Prius didnt make the resale list is easy to figure out... THERE AINT ANYONE OUT THERE SELLING THEIRS!!
I am not one to purchase new cars. I generally purchase cars that are one or two years old and save $5-10k. However, people were trying to sell the Prius for nearly a new Prius MSRP. I could not get an 04 Prius for less that $20k. Some were listd at $24k. I bought a new package #6 for 25.5k. Pruis have outstanding resale value.
