My heater is not working too swiftly in my 2005 Prius, and I am starting to get cold feet in the morning. I just hit 46k on it and took it in to Toyota to review a couple problems. After running a $49 diagnostic test on the car, I was infomed that I need a $400 coolant flow control valve. Obviously my main question is whether this is a costly proposition, can I get a valve somewhere else and are these codes accurate to the issue at hand (P1121, P1150, P1151, P1161)? Thanks for any feedback on this!
p1161 isn't showing up but the rest sure point out the valve in question. unfortunately, there's not a lot you can get aftermarket for these cars yet. doing this on your own is risky because getting air in the coolant loop is NOT good. $400 sounds reasonable for parts and install.
The $400 was only for the part. An additional $200 for the labor. The part is #16670-21010, and your correct about finding an after market, I can't find it anywhere. The Toyota tech was kind enough to give me all this information...

Try Hoy-Fox with your part #: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...amp;catalogid=2 (I tried to post a direct link to the part#, but it didn't work.) - Tom
