Does anyone know of any real differences in the 2008 Prius from the older models? Is the EV switch MOD done the same? I can't find a lot of info on how the 2008 compares to the rest. Thanks in advance.
The 2008 Prius is no different than the 2006 and 2007 Prii. The only difference that I can know of are the map DVD upgrades.
Toyota did add the new base model with less equipment at a lower price. Prius is one of the most reliable cars on the road, it maybe a good thing that no other changes were made. T
I thought my dash material in my '08 has a different texture? I haven't been in an older Prius so I don't know, but thought I read that.
The 04 and 05's have just painted metal on the dash and upper part of the doors just below the window where you have the crinkled whatever it is LOL.

morpheusx. I was just looking for a post on this exact topic. We are new Prius owners. Both my wife and I have stopped the car by pressing the Power button (off) without first pressing P (park). Is there any harm in doing this. There is a little sticker under the "P" button that says, "Please press P to engage Park".
PARK is activated each time the READY button is pressed to turn off the car. No need to do the extra step.
Do you mean the POWER button? Just wanted to make sure there isn't a different button somewhere. This is actually interesting reading, as I didn't know you could just pull into the garage for example and press the POWER button without having to press the P then the POWER button to power the car off. I tell ya, it's only been about a week now, but I still catch myself looking for a key to turn off, and at other times I find myself almost getting out without powering off the car...
I've had mine for over a month and still look for a key. I reach for the garage door opener in the overhead console where the lights are, thats where it was on my Blazer, and I have on a couple occasions forgotten to turn the car off and it started to roll
Yes, just the "Power" button. I used to press "park" then "power", just because it was the right thing to do. I've since gotten lazy, and just use the "power" button. The car is definitely smarter than I am. First phone call I got I wondered what all the ringing was about (both the cell and the car rang - bluetooth). About 1/2 way to getting out the cell to answer I remembered all I had to do was press the off-hook button on the steering wheel (yes, I was stopped). For the first few weeks I approached the car with the key fob in hand, then remembering I didn't need to actually hold it (SKS).
