Greetings All! After having my Prius for 11 months now I have hit 35,000 miles already. Other then doing oil and tire rotations every 5,000 miles or so that I've been doing; is there anything else I need to do at the 35,000 mile mark? Are there any other filters that need to be changed or other maintainence? Anything special since I've driven that many miles in less then a year? Thanks for your help Tech
Wow, that's putting on some miles...nothing special...if you look in your blue "passport" I think there are some 'inspections' that are recommended. You should change your cabin air filter if that hasn't been done. Some folks wash them and reuse, I bought a bunch of cheap ones on line and just replace when they start looking nasty. Your engine air filter should be inspected and probably replaced if you haven't been doing that up to now of course.
WOW, your worse then me LOL. But I just got a new job delivering medicine for a large pharmacy using my Prius so that's going to make my usage even more so. I've had mine 3 weeks and it's to 3,300mi. on it.
if you haven't put new tires on it yet you might be due by now, we put new ones on at 28k! otherwise nah, you're all good, check all your interior trim to be sure that there aren't any minor defects before you lose the 3/36 warranty- our visors were replaced under warranty and the upper glovebox too. you could probably use an alignment about now if you haven't done that yet.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(techman @ Nov 7 2007, 08:23 AM) </div> Wow thats some trucking. Please do a trans fluid change and have that fluid analyzed and post numbers. I plan on it myself when I reach that mileage. Search here many many articles and a fabulous dissertation by resident Prius guru Bob Wilson on Prius PSD fluid. It of course uses Toyota's WS fluid. That analysis would really help the baseline data library that alot of people are trying to build here as the longevity of the PSD fluid has become into question vis a vis the dealer saying its good to 100K and alot of people in older Prius' reporting failures at much less mileage and having never changed there fluid. Your car would be a perfect test bed as a short time high duration example. Thank you.
Greetings: Engine air filter is taken care of. Also, the cabin air filter I will look at, it is probably do for a change. As far as changing the PSD fluid, your referring to the transmission fluid? I need to do that already? HOw much does that typically run. And how do I run those thats you are talking about to add to the database? Also, I have the 100,000 mile platinum warranty I bought from here so that should cover those things I would believe should they happen after 36,000 miles but I will give in a good looking at. Thanks everyone!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(galaxee @ Nov 8 2007, 01:00 PM) </div> Greetings: I put new tires on when I first bought the vehicle; If I need an alignment, is that covered under the warranty? I will defintely check all interior trim pieces; anything in particular I should look for? The rear cup holder always falls off on mine; does it normally detach that easily? Thanks Tech
the rear cupholder on mine stays up just fine. complain about that. just try everything out and be sure it's functioning properly. if not, complain about it. alignment is only covered under the 12 mo/15k adjustment warranty. that's considered routine maintenance afterward. depending how aggressive you drive, you should be checking every 15k-20k anyway to ensure good tire wear.
I feel like a slacker. Only 46,000 miles since Jan 06. Last year was about 25,000. I do all my own oil, filters and tire rotation. I may "let" the dealer do something for the 60. No problems. Never been back to the dealer since first drive out the door. Its a great car for rolling up the miles. Still on original tires too!
Same here - 36000 miles since Sept. 2006 !! 35K miles service report: Front brakes 10mm, rotor OK, Rear 4mm OEM tire wear: Even - 7/32 thread remaining maybe at 40K I'll think about tires <_<
