It's all relative I guess, but this story should make you guys feel a little better...

My company runs a Smart FourTwo (see it at www.thesmart.co.uk) as a run-around - this car is product of the (once) great Daimler Benz empire and is sold and serviced at the same dealers.

A 19,000 miles service was carried out this week at a cost of US $524.00 (yes, that's five hundred and twenty four).

Included in the bill was a charge of US $14.90 for checking to see if the windscreen wiper rubbers were OK and fitting ONE replacement at an extra cost of US $21.90.

That, my friends, is being shafted!

Incidentally, the hourly labour rate MB dealers charge here is US $147.00

 

$8.25/quart for Mobil One. Ouch! You can get it at Amazon.com for $4.99/quart.....

 

I'm not sure what my synthetic was but i purchase it as Kraigens for less than 4.00 a quart

%*$&# 524.00 dollars for regular maintenance on a Smart Car??? How many maintenance visits will it take before you have spent as much on the maintenance as the original cost of the car??
