Hey everyone. I've seen a lot of different 2005 toyota prius blue colors out there but I'm still unsure... is there a difference between these 2 blues? I know for certain both colors are not custom. One seems to be brighter than the other, but than again the car was in the sunlight. Please help i must know! lol thanks
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(reesdude\";p=\"52164)</div> As far as I know there is one, and only one, shade of 2005 blue ("Seaside") Prius. I also believe it is the same shade as the 2004 series. Keep in mind that color reproductions on the computer, and even in fancy brochures, are notoriously inaccurate. I own a 2005 blue, and it looks pretty close to your first picture. Your second almost looks like Tideland. I'd like to add that everyone who's seen my car loves its color. Male, female, young, and old. It's universal.
The first picture is very close to the actual colour. Here, check them out for yourself http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/ima...es/04prius4.jpg http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/ima...es/04prius3.jpg http://www.canadiandriver.com/roadtest/ima...es/04prius2.jpg
I've seen several of the new blue Priuses, and frankly it doesn't look like either of the pictures you posted. It more of a slate gray blue; it's really gorgeous. It's more intense than most of the other shades. It matches my husband's eyes I'm more of a red person, but the blue would be my 2nd choice.
Here's My Personal Album You can see a good representation of the true color. Remember, one of your photos is in direct sunlight (and a bit of pumped up saturation it seems), and the other in the shade (and under exposed). Those factors will affect the appearance of the color.
Yes, efusco's pictures are more in line with the blue Prii that I see on the road, including mine. I have noticed though that my car does take on very different hues. My occupation is computer graphics so I'm always very sensitive to color. The paint on the all Prii are so reflective and I think you'll get the "super-blue" hue when there is a clear cloudless sky. The blue sky reflects on the blue finish. I love my car color the most though at night. It takes on that soft slate blue color and reflects all the evening lights.
Anyone with Tideland will vouch that the color shifts depending on the lighting, time of day, and mood your in. I'm sure the blue is probably the same way.
oh Tony, you took the words right out of my mouth... i have had my Prius described in about a dozen different colors by people i know.
Toyota actually uses special paint for the Seaside. It react to the weather conditions. If it's a bright sunny day, then the car feels bright and cheerful, so it's bright blue. Toward the evening commute and on cloudy days, it has a much more reserved look, hence the slate blue. Chris
In North America, there is only one blue Prius color. I love mine. I would describe it as being about the color of the blue part of the sky about 20 minutes after sunset. Evan's ( "efusco" ) avatar is right on. It is a dignified and stately blue, rather than a "kid's toy" blue. I think there is another blue color available in Japan, but not here. B
The other day I took my blue '04 Prius in for the SSC and an oil change. The dealer washed it before returning it to me. It was dusk when I picked it up, and I swear to you, the car had a purpleish hue to it. The man who was just finishing drying it off commented on it. It was so different that I actually asked if they had washed it with something that changed the color. I had never before really looked at it just at dusk. The Prius blue IS several different colors, depending on the ambient lighting! The green does that also.
