When I looked for it, the interesting thing was that at one resolution it wasn't there, but at the other it was.
Only an oil wealthy province with no coastal environmental commission and more money than they know what to do with would build something like this, but it took Toups observation that this isn't visible at all resolutions that allowed me to spot it --- The Palm Jumeirahi, Dubai More details here Kinda makes for an existential quandary - if all the world drove Prii this kind of planet-shaping architecture would probably be out of financial reach. But SUVs and conventional ICEs provide such a torrent of cashflow the oil sheiks can add wings not just to their mansions but to an entire continent! Meanwhile, the field is open --- MB
I'm on the sofa again with this one. Orionll, you should offer bonus points for naming ALL the prominent features pictured (I see three). MB

Thinking out loud here --- The total US arrest rate for all crimes runs about 5,000 per 100K population (5% - 1 in 20 people arrested every year - wow, we really do live in a police state). I'll assume that figure works as an urban proxy because most of the population lives in an urban setting, so we're looking at a community, with 3,500 arrests in one year, of something under 100K population - and that is NOT a suburb of NY or LA or SFO etc because Street View is not available wherever this is. This assumes the police station is a USA police station. If it's a foreign police station all bets are off. But it's a famous police station, one of note, one we'd recognize, one that has something distinctive about it - it isn't just some random police station Mojo threw a dart at a map and hit - right Mojo? The water it's next to probably isn't the ocean, but could be a salt water bay, or a river, or a lake. The absence of any trace of railroad running alongside tends to rule out a major river or significant waterway, although the freeway could be atop some old railroad bed. It's not Muncie. That one shows up a lot in Google because of its association with some TV show. What that spiral means is so far no help (to me, anyway). Is the fact that the spiral as at top left of a larger black background part of the clue? Well, hopefully something I said will be of some help to somebody. MB

My brain's fizzling out; the only "name" I can think of is Scotland Yard and I KNOW the nazis didn't control that (despite what captured felons might believe). I poked around Europe a bit - Munich, Budapest, Warsaw, Paris - under the nazi thumb at one time but not in this building (or site - I'm sure the actual building was built a lot later than 1940). Even in Europe 3500 arrest a year seems like a small number, so this is a small burg with a famous headquaretrs I just can't pull out of the depths of my molasses brain. MB
