Exactly. I wish the Current bar was placed on the left (closest to the driver) and the other bars progress rightward from there. Seems like that would be, from the perspective of a left-side driver, the most intuitive.

Like I said, it's local lingo here and in Kiwiland and isn't intended to offend at all. The word is used in the name of a lot of Australian businesses (Look here http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&...=cr%3DcountryAU ) and I doubt any of them intend to offend especially when they do business in Japan. I recall conversations at Adelaide Jap Dismantlers http://www.adelaidejap.com.au/ about the guys going to Japan to gather parts, I can't see them having a name that upsets their suppliers.

When you read you read from left to right, after half an hour of driving you have a half hour history of the car's average fuel consumption from left to right, the way you read. An ociliscope has a trace that moves from left to right so the oldest data is on the left and you read the data from left to right.

I wish the consumption button was on the bottom right of the MFD on right hand drive models.

 

This is for 06 and up.

EDIT: The "Outside Temp" moves around if you switch from the Energy or Consumption screen to the Air Conditioning screen. Sloppy UI designer!

 

Just discovered this this evening: The "Auto" button on the driver's door stays lit even with lights cranked down as far as possible.

I think the worst UI problem with the MFD is that the "I agree" button for the Nav is located in exactly the same position as the "Reset" button for the Average MPG. I have accidentally reset the average twice when I didn't intend to.

Also, the whole "I agree" screen is just ridiculous anyway.

 

Once you have agreed once why should you need to agree again? (Listening Toyota?) :mellow:

I have a fact that I don't think has been posted before.
11 slabs of beer in cans will easily fit in the rear load space of a Prius with the blind closed, a further 3 slabs will fit under the floor and there is still room for some stubbie holders and a barbeque meat pack to take to that BYO barbeque. B)
If Australian sales people knew this fact they would sell more Priuses in Australia. :lol: (I know you say Prii but I say Priuses)

The chart is read from left to right, which is how one would normally produce such a graph, reading earliest to latest.

As for why the new bars always appear at the right, it just keeps things more consistent: a new bar is displayed, and everything shifts left to make room, regardless of whether it's the first bar or the nth bar.

I had never found this confusing as I was reading from left to right. But the other day I noticed for the first time that the numbers 0-5-10-15-20-25-30 read from right to left. I understand why it's done this way, but it's not the same as a regular bar graph, where the 0 usually starts on the left.

Since the minutes shown are times past, they are actually negative numbers (-5, -10, -15, etc.) indicating minutes ago. So the numbers from left-to-right really are shown in increasing value, as on most graphs.

 

Obscure fact no. ###:

The tire changing jack works much better if you do not bother with the zig-zag rod with a hook on the end to turn it. The tire iron/lug wrench will fit into the cranking hole of the jack and turn much easier than the gizmo.

You can save weight by getting rid of the other thingie.

Yes, I kind of figured that. It's still weird to see the 0 on the right though and it does take some thinking through to understand what it's actually showing. I think I see now why Zenmachine asked the question to begin with. If the most recent bar is on the left (closest to the driver), and the 0 is also on the left, it might be more intuitive.

This does not work on my EU Prius.

If i open the door the window will not go up anymore.

In fact, if I power down the car and then close the windows, when and if the passenger opens the door my windows stops. I have to power on the car to close the window fully.

2 follow up questions about your post: Can the new version (7.1) be purchased and used to upgrade existing systems? And, is doing away with the I Agree button the only enhancement (you probably know what I'm getting at, i.e., over-riding the nav system to let you operate the other functions while the car is moving)?
