I saw (my) first New York City Prius Yellow cab today.

I took a cab (Ford) from Terminal 6 at JFK, and as we pulled away from the
cab stand I saw a Prius about 10 cabs back in the line, Medallion "6E24".

I have seen Ford Escape hybrids several times, but this is the first Prius I
    have seen.

Cool! I also saw the first Prius cab in the Seattle area a few days ago, a white "STITA" cab. I'm sure the drivers love driving them too.

Yes. I saw that same cab (if there's only one) looking out my Manhattan apartment window last week. It looked cool too.

I was thinking about this the other day, I bet they get great mileage with all the stop and go.

I remember something about a police Prius getting 4 times the mileage of their standard Fords. They may drive them hard when they're moving, but apparently they also do a lot of sitting still waiting to move.

A Prius would make an ideal cab or inner suburbs delivery vehicle.

It is not allowed to use a Prius or any 4 cylinder car as a cab here in Adelaide. Stupid restriction!

While waiting for a shuttle at the Seatac airport last week, I saw three white STITA cabs. I even checked the numbers on the side to make sure it wasn't the same car looping around :)

I saw one a few weeks ago too. I get the impresssion that they are slowly updating their fleet to Prii. Smart move. ;)

I've seen several Prius cabs in LA, and one in Santa Barbara.

In the greater Vancouver area there is probably over 100 Prius taxis. They are everywhere. Some HyCams as well but mainly Prius. Even saw a Classic Prius cab the other day.
