DVD DL media to duplicate NAV 6.1 DVD

I asked this before with "mixed" replies.... half replied with DVD +R DL and other half said DVD -R DL. I did an extensive "search" and still, out of all the threads, found no positive answers.

I want to make a good working "copy" of the original (2007) VERSION 6.1 NAV DVD and store my original in a safe and "cool" place as the temps in a closed Prius here in Florida are sweltering and I'm afraid the original Toyota plastic DVD might get damaged ?? Regardless for my reasons, I want to "duplicate" the version 6.1 on my Dell XPS410 computer using Roxio EMC 9.0 and either the Plextor 755SA DVD "burner" or the OEM Dell (Samsung TSST) burner that came with it ??
PLEASE advise me on the correct media to buy....

I had a Dell Dimension 9150 (a.k.a. XPS400) running RAID1 (two 160 GB) HD's for a year and decided to give that to my Wife in Feb. I used to build custom computers, mainly high end SCSI RAID workstations and small Servers back in the 90's when it was "cheaper to build your own"..... now I couldn't even get the parts to build one for even twice the cost of what it is to buy one fully assembled and tested (and warrantied).

Dell has a new computer (XPS210) that is a "really downsized" but powerful little machine, but too small for me (I like to add extra DVD burners, etc.) with no expansion, but still great for space saving area's like banks, etc.

Back to the XPS410.... good value for the money, made with top-of-the-line Intel processor/chipset MoBo's and WD HD's, great design heavy duty chassis and excellent cooling. I added a second DVD "burner".... Plextor 755SA which is supposed to burn even the most difficult DVD DL's etc.

I am Dell certified (but still unemployed.... figure it out) and I also worked in a Dell Call Center (Tampa, FL) for a few months, until they changed my hours from 7AM-4PM M-F to rotten 11AM-8PM Wed. thru Sunday (inclusive) :angry: so I quit after they could not offer any sort of "change" for me !!

Unfortunatey some of the threads were a bit "dated" and referring to the DVD version 5.1 used in pre-'07, so I want to be 100% sure of the "newer" version 6.1 DVD "duped" compatibility in the '07 !!

Thank you very much for the info., greatly appreciated. Although I CAN change book-type, I have NO DL media left and have to buy new (again) so this time I will "start off" with DVD -R DL Media and see how it goes from there. I'll probably buy a small 3-pack or 5-pack.

I have no doubt the Dell OEM unit I have in my XPS410, TSST (Samsung) DVD+-RW TSH653A, will be able to handle the -R media or even the added Plextor 755SA internal burner in second bay, but it was mainly what the Toyota NAV "wants to read" and from the reply from "TheForce" I am now convinced to start off with DVD -R DL Media.

Dell uses five of six different OEM SATA DVD +- RW DL drives in the Dimension/XPS line, depending on what they happen to have in stock the days of the builds. Some are OEM Samsung 183's w/o lightscribe called TSST TSH653A, while others are Lite-On's, etc. Not every Dell OEM burner "tolerates" all -R's and some Dell DVD burners are very "fussy" about the actual DVD media used, even if +R !! This is why in my newest Dell XPS410 computer I added a second burner, a Plextor 755SA which is supposed to be very tolerant with all types of CD/DVD media and "friendly" with most, if not all, CD/DVD Burn Software....
