Just installed the kit and the door locks activate as soon as I push the power button. I was under the impression that the car is supposed to be doing approximately 15 mph before the door locks activated. Has anyone else had this happen and is it serious??
The lockpick seems to work best on the 04-05. Some 06+ owners have said it didn't work at all. If yours works, I wouldn't worry about it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nmrickie @ Sep 21 2007, 12:55 PM) </div> The thread title is misleading, I think the OP is talking about the automatic door lock kit that's supposed to lock the doors when the car gets to 15mph.
Oops I meant the door lock kit. Mine works great in my '05, but I've heard complaints for the newer ones.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BuddyL @ Sep 20 2007, 06:03 PM) </div> Thanks; guess I'll consider myself lucky it works on my 07. Sent an email to coastal but from what I've read about their customer service department I may be waiting awhile for an answer.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nmrickie @ Sep 21 2007, 01:08 PM) </div> I too have a 2007 Prius and have experienced the same problem you mentioned. I contacted Coastal back in April describing this immediate locking feature. No response from them at that time. Recently, I read on their website that people may have been sending emails to the wrong address. Well, I wrote to the "correct" address and much to my surprise, I got an immediate response telling me that they would send me a new one. Wow! I thanked them and offered to send the "damaged" one back. Well, no response to that email ever came. Sad to say, the new one did NOT fix the immediate locking problem. I was thinking that the wiring in their instructions looks a bit less crowded than mine (2007). Also, I don't think it applies to Priuses, but I did wonder if CA cars were treated differently...more wires may mean CA car. So, I am thinking of sending my old one back for I now feel a bit guilty since it was NOT broken. Still, I do believe the 2007 has a modest change in the wiring. My next move is to pull one wire at a time to see if I can narrow things down to the colored wire that may be wrong. Any other ideas out there?? Any wiring diagrams, etc??
Wow, I guess I'm glad I'm not alone. I just installed my XM and auto door lock. XM works as expected, the auto door lock suffers the same problem. It locks the door right after the car goes into Ready mode. I sent email to support at coastelEtech . com as noted on their site and the receipt.
Priusdriver better check your spelling of Coastaletech they may not get the email. I am still waiting on a reply to two of my emails to them on this subject. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BuddyL @ Sep 25 2007, 07:11 PM) </div> Sorry that would be Prius Diver
Yeah, I went back and edited my message above and still got it wrong! Oh well, good thing i copy and pasted it from their site into my email. Hopefully one of us hears back on the situation, if it was a design change then I want a refund...as locking when I hit the power button isn't a viable option.
Anyone make progress on this? I have not heard back from Coastal. I'd hate to have to take this up with the credit card company. I called the # that posted with the credit card transaction, we'll see if I get anywhere. Otherwise AMEX will take care of it for me.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(PriusDiver @ Oct 4 2007, 08:14 PM) </div> Nope; still haven't heard anything from Coastal e tech. I have heard there replies to emails take virtually forever. Can't understand why they don't talk to their customers? Irritating to say the least.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(BuddyL @ Oct 5 2007, 04:49 PM) </div> Unfortunately I will have to file this with AMEX if they don't respond. I'm sure that will generate a response. Not responding to faulty product issues is unacceptable. 3-weeks is a bit long in my opinion.
