FYI for those in the market to purchase a Prius. SF Bay Area prices quoted by a dealership internet sales department as of 8/3/07: Base is only $21,570 Package #2 is only $21,400 Package #4 is only $23,500 Package #5 is only $26,601 Package #6 is only $27,044 It is odd that the Base is more than #2. Maybe it has to do with the factory rebate. (I purchased a #2).
Interesting info. I got an internet quote of pkg #2 MSRP $23609, invoice $22128, price $500 over invoice ($22628) plus tax and license. We are trying to decide if we should take that, try to find something better, or wait 2 weeks (?) or so until the 2008s come out. Any advice?

I purchased a #6 during the first week of May for $200 under invoice with no negotiating required. (The #2 I purchased last week is for my son).

I'm in Washington State, but would be delighted to go to SFO for the prices listed in the prior post. I'm looking for a 2007 or 2008 (package #2). Last week I was told by a Costco dealer near me that the price was $23,000. Consumer Reports would say that's too high, but dealers aren't even calling me back. I'm a novice at new car purchases and unfortunately have decided I want a Prius--and nothing else--except for a plug-in hybrid which won't be sold until 2010 (Volt) or later. The Prius may be lots of fun to drive, but getting one in Washington State ranks down there with the flu.
I bought my base prius for $20.5K earlier this year, you guys need to play hard-ball! Don't talk to the floor sales people. Call and speak directly with an internet or fleet manager!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(luckyboy @ Aug 17 2007, 04:13 PM) </div> I am new to the forums here. Looking to buy a Prius. Can someone tell me whether the prices quoted here are OTD price or price without tax and title? Thanks
Toyota of Berkeley's web site shows a $21,275 MSRP for a Prius--no specification of package number. I plan on calling them tomorrow and then deciding whether to fly from Seattle to Oakland to complete a deal. About $1,300 better--if real--than the best quote I have been given here in the Puget Sound area.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(broflcwa @ Aug 27 2007, 01:24 AM) </div> I went down today for a package 4 and offered them 25K out the door, he pulls out some inventory sheet and tell me he pay more his cars so he has to charge more? I walked. The 2008's will be here shortly and they are sitting on 10 of them and the rebates gets phased out the end of september.
