i'm thrilled because my dealer called today and told me that he was able to get me a 2008 package 6 seaside pearl (my first color choice). he's already worked out the trade with the other dealer. there were only 2 or 3 coming in to the bay area in the next few weeks, and we really wanted to buy before the 30th, so i'm realllllly excited. it is already at port, and it should be at the dealer within the week. we had a deposit down on a barcelona red, but i'm so excited that we were able to get our first color choice in the right time frame--i love the red, but i fear it may be too snazzy for me in the long run. anyway, i'm so anxious! i have even been having all these crazy prius-filled dreams. i can't wait!! on more week until i am a prius owner (and this is my very first car purchase, so i'm extra excited)! so i was wondering if you lovely PC folks might help me think of names for my new prius while i am anxiously awaiting her arrival. any thoughts?? thanks!

"Janis" Take with you a copy of the delivery checklist: http://www.vfaq.net/docs/pickup_checklist.html That version is still good for 2008 except (I think) for the valet cards which you can get here: http://priuschat.com/index.php?act=Attach&...ost&id=6546

oh but a name is such a personal thing. I think that one day you will realize the perfect name. Until then, just call it "Baby Boy/Girl Prius"

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Sep 12 2007, 08:58 AM) </div> you are right. naming a car *is* a very personal thing. i spent a bunch of time yesterday trying to think of just the right one. i couldn't think of anything too interesting, so after a while, i just thought maybe i would name it bob or something! but i think maybe i should wait until he/she arrives. then maybe i'll be inspired!

I don't get the whole naming thing. Do you also name your toaster, VCR, iPod, etc.......? Its just a car. My car just says "Prius" ... that's good enough for me. I love the car, but names are for living breathing things, not metal, plastic, and wires. I know its a minority opinion here, but its mine, and I'm proud of it.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ Sep 12 2007, 11:58 AM) </div> That's what we did for our real baby too. We didn't give her a first name until a week after she was born.

As to the name thing - first determine the boy/girl thing. You'll know which right away. Then consider whether you want to make a statement & just be cutesy. (Does a Seaside Pearl have to be called "Pearl"?) They're right - take your time in choosing. As with real babies, you have time to try out your favorites. With our kids, we tried out different names in "real-life" situations, such as "Kevin Scott - I've told you 5 times to take out the garbage." And above all, have fun with your pride & joy.
