Well, as I posted a couple of months ago, I'm buying this fall/winter... I just got in position to make the purchase and started to talk with some dealers and I got really bad news. There are few if any 07's in the Dallas area and the allotments of 08's to arrive in the next few weeks are being snagged up at MSRP before they arrive. I suspect that it is a supply/demand issue right now.

This is really distressing for me, as I had a couple of dealers ready to sell me Prius for 300 over invoice back in May, but I wasn't ready (wife's car still had a few payments left and didn't want two payments)...

Now that I am ready they are telling me that it is MSRP and all the units are going to have a ton of dealer added poopoo. (Extra mile package stuff...)

I know that supply will be low until the 08's really start rolling in and then there is the annual holiday buying freny. I guess I am going to have to wait until the FEB time frame before supply catches up with demand? I am in desperate need of a new car, but MSRP does not extice me. Any advice or words of comfort would be appreciated... I am quite dejected about this after waiting for over a year for my new car...

You might call around to some of the dealers outside of the metroplex. Heck, even a cheap plane ticket to Lubbock could be in order if they have cars and are ready to deal. We used a quote from a Lubbock dealer to get the local DFW dealer down to MSRP a couple of years ago. He had to "go to the manager" twice but came totally off his $1,000 premium charge after we told him we could fly Southwest Airlines to Lubbock for $50.

<_< Well the inventory in the Dallas metroplex continues to dwindle and my calls to most regions of the state have been unproductive. I even saw a car that was equipped similar to my desires and between Saturday and Tuesday the dealer jacked the price by twenty-five hundred dollars. I called and asked what the deal was and they internet manager told be, "Oh yeah, we only got a hand full left, so on Monday we sent them all out for leather upgrade, stripes, tinting....."

The wait continues... It is going to be ugly here until the 08's hit... Any idea when that might be for Dallas?

Well I called around and it looks like I'll be making a road-trip to south Texas as I worked out a deal for 300 over invoice and managed to get one without all the port and dealer added fluff! I'll keep ya'll posted...
