Okay, now I am really confused. I've had my 2008 Prius for about a month now, and I assumed it was a green "green" car. It is sort of the color which is on the underside of a leaf from an olive tree (we got a bunch of those in this part of the world). Anyway, I glanced at the pictures on the silver mica club (what the heck is a mica) and it sure looks my car. I am leaving it up to you experts. Am I a green green?
    Pictures are attached.

I believe it's the silver pine mica club...pine being a green tree, a silver pine a lighter green color...like your car.

The word "mica" is thought to be derived from the Latin word micare, meaning to shine, in reference to the brilliant appearance of this mineral (especially when in small scales).

Thanks, I like it too. The Prius has gotten very popular in Israel.
I see you are a moderator for Priuschat. It is a great site. I learned a lot before the car arrived and the members are very helpful. You need to add 2008 on the personal profile. It felt empty putting down 2007 because there was no 2008 option.

Try changing it to a 2008 now...I don't usually do that so my experiment may not have worked. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll let Danny do it.

By the way, do you really think that the plastic ties will prevent the theft of the wheel covers?

No, they are there so they do not fly off when I hit a pothole. It happened before and I do not feel like buying a new set of caps.

I noticed something interesting on your rear bumper. Does the Israeli version of the Prius come with a "Sonar" back-up system instead of the rear camera?

It never even dawned on me that someone would want to steal the caps. The car, maybe, but not the caps.

Nope, I ordered the sonar and the camera. In retrospect, the camera is really not needed. The sonar is great, though.

It seems that every second or third car in Israel is missing at least one wheel cover or hubcap. I just assumed that they were stolen, since the roads seem to be in at least as good a shape as those in post Prop 13 California and hardly any car here seems to be missing them.

What section of Yerushalaim do you live in?

    Avi,

I am interested in the placement of your camera. I fitted mine in the same position as Toyota do with the factory fitted camera - just above the plate, and pointing down towards the ground. Your camera appears to be straight out the back. I would have thought that this would have given you a good view from the camera.

Also, where do you have the screen for the camera? Is it a separate screen, or are you using the MFD?

    Hi Eric,

The camera was placed there by the Toyota people. It gives an excellent "behind the car" view, however, with the sonar sensers, I think it is not really needed. The screen for the camera is the standerd screen we have for the other info (energy consumption, etc.), and it is given priority when the car is put in reverse.
The only two negitive things I can say about it is:
1- when the sun is setting you get a glare (of course if there is no light at night, you don't see much) and
2- the picture on the screen inside the car is difficult to see on a sunny day
The four sensers give an excellent warning when there is anything less than 1.5 meters from the back bumper (even in glare, sun and darkness) and, besides, the camera does not show what may be hidden by the pillars of the hatchback.
BTW, this is the frist hatchback I have owned - how long does it take to get used to that bar cutting through the back windowshield?

    Avi

Thr roads are really not bad, just every so often you got a whopper of a pothole. This is most common in winter when they may be filled with rain.

Got a funny story about that color: I arrived in Ontario Airport in California and after signing all the rental papers for the Prius rental I was told my car was the "silver" one. So I go outside and there is a long row full of Priuses (or Pria for you traditional latin inclined folk...): a few red, a few white, some GREEN, a couple blue, and on the end of the row one SILVER. So, I walk to the end of the row, put my luggage inside the Prius, sit on the seat and I am faced with the lack of a key: my first time driving a Prius. Before I step outside and get my luggage out of the car to walk back to the counter I decide to look at the dashboard: lo and behold, no whole for a key, so no key! So I find the owner's manual, read how to start this car and get it started. I am finally moving, rolling towards the exit on my SILVER Prius. I get to the gate and the security guy who releases the cars tells me I have the wrong car. I told him they gave the silver one and that this was the only silver Prius they had. He said "No, your car is on spot G22, this car you got was on G30". So I drive back, park this SILVER Prius on G30, get my stuff out, walk back to G22 and what else: it was the GREEN Prius, a color called Silver Pine Mica, called SILVER by AVIS. Turns out the actually silver color is called CLASSIC, as Toyota Calls it Classic Silver Mettalic... go figure!
