    SandV,

I sent out for quotes 3 days ago on a 2008 Touring pkg #6 , Barcelona Red Metallic with beige leather. Most of the Dealers have replied that they can't provide a quote yet because they say they won't receive '08 pricing info until the end of the month. However, two dealers have replied:

One has bid $1500 under MSRP and the other stated he would sell at 5% of his cost.

I paid $22,480 for a new 2007 package 2. That price included the $660 destination fee, but not tax or license.

They tried to sell me the Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty (7 years/ 75,000 mi. / $0 version) for $2190. But since I had read prius chat for the first time a few hours before buying the car, and seen the thread on the $990 7/100k/$0 warranty, I told them to get stuffed. The Toyota rep reduced the price by 20% to $1725, and I insisted I had seen warranties for as low as $990. He finally said "well maybe I can get you the employee discount, which is around 30%," this sounded like a bunch of bull to me, but he at least pretended to call the department manager and get approval for this rate. Again, let me stress I think it was all theatrics. Anyhow, he said it was going to be $1414 at this new discount.

Now I don't know if I made a mistake here, but since I also read at carbuyingtips.com that California residents cannot buy online extended warranties, I decided I'd cut my losses and grab the warranty for $1414. It seemed to me that if I was inelligible for online extended warranties like carbuyingtips claims, I did well. And even if I was eligible for the warranty listed on this forum, at least I'm only over that by about $420 rather than the originally quoted $1220 over!

Either way, I know the literal 10 minutes I spent browsing this forums saved me over a thousand dollars!

Troy, who sells the Extended Warranties to PriusChat members, does prefer that his pricing not be broadcast to other dealers.
You can actually just say, "No, I'm not interested in that." and refuse to discuss it. :)

I simply told the dealer I has seen quotes as low as $990 when I was doing research on the web (in fact I believe I said $1000). I never mentioned names or websites. If, even mentioning it in this nebulous manner was bad, I apologize.

I was told toyota stopped making the Touring due to lack of interest. Is that true?

You were told wrong. I ordered my '08 Touring two days ago for $1,500 under MSRP. Dealer expects delivery in 6 weeks.

I just picked up a 2007 Prius with pkg 2 for $22,128. It was invoice price. With taxes and fees, it came out to $24,217.85. (Sales tax in Marin is pretty high at 8% It felt like a good price. I had to haggle with a few dealers in the bay area to get it, but it seems right on. It definitely helped to go in the last day of the month as they wanted to make the deal happen. I tried to get them to throw in the cargo mats but they wouldn't go for it.

I just wanted to say PriusChat rocks. I have been checking this site regularly for the last few weeks while I was in the process of deciding on a Prius. Browsing these forums saved me a lot of money and also answered so many questions I had. This is a great site- thank you to all the members who post and advise others regularly.

Now I'm looking forward to driving this excellent car!! I pick it up tomorrow - its going to be a fun weekend driving this machine!

I recently paid $25,899 for a Silver Pine Green Package #6 including delivery fees, not including taxes. I am so happy with my purchase. I can't seem to focus on much else than Prius related stuff!

Mine was $24,900AU on the road all taxes and charges paid.
    That's $20,362US

This is a 2004 base model in silver with 60,000km on the odometer.

New price here is about $37,400AU ($30,584US) for base and 46,900AU ($38,353US) for iTech which comes with all the bells and whistles, $9500 worth of bells and whistles!!

    Thanks. What does uncommitted mean?

I spoke with the dealer here and they said, right or wrong, that they don't have pricing for '08. But I am welcome to put down a deposit. It sounded to me like a ploy to squeeze close to MSRP out of me.

Got my 2007 Touring Package #6 (Magnetic Grey) in South Orange County CA for $700 above invoice **haggle-free** about three weeks ago via the Costco Auto Buying program.

Paid $26,680 (MSRP was $29854 - $1750 Toyota "Economic Savings" - $1424 Costco pricing) including everything but taxes. I went through multiple dealers who didn't have any Package 6's and were only willing to get them from far-off dealers with nonrefundable deposits and no discount on MSRP whatsoever -or- take orders for '08's, again with non-refundable deposits, no discounts, and no guarantee on delivery dates.

Finally went through the Costco program online and was contacted immediately by a dealer who had one coming in the next day exactly the way I wanted it and quoted me the Costco Pricing over the phone. Went there the next day when it had been delivered fresh off the boat and wrote a check for the car - then found out that there were two other couples in the dealership trying to buy it as we were leaving. Apparently they had driven in from very far away since touring 6's are few and far between and nobody knew that the car was already purchased since I'd moved on it so fast. Bummer for them, I guess.

For those of you who are looking for one of the lower packages, many dealers in SOCAL had those and were willing to go down to as little as $500 over invoice right now, meaning that I could have bought one of them for as little as $22k.

Good luck, and avoid Power Toyota like the plague - they are one of those dealers that just epitomize everything wrong about car buying. On the other hand, Toyota of San Juan Capistrano was awesome and made the experience quick and pain free, especially via the Costco Auto Buying Program.

I just purchased my magnetic grey package 5 Prius on Friday in the Philadelphia area. After researching heavily, I found that it was difficult to find dealers in the area with many in stock-- especially in the color and package I wanted-- and that very few were willing to negotiate much. After getting a quote over the internet from one dealer which was good (but had almost no Priuses on the lot) and trying to use it as a jumping point for some competition, the others dealers just sent me emails congratulating me on a great price! Nevertheless, calling around on August 31st was helpful. At the last minute, I was able to negotiate a reasonable price over the phone at the only dealer carrying the car I wanted and purchased it that day.

    MSRP: $26,314.00
    Negotiated purchase price: $24,250.00
    Extended warranty (7yr/75K): $740.00
    Plus tax (7%) and title/license ($133.50)

I hadn't researched the extended warranty enough before going in... I had assumed I would be quoted some outrageous price and intended on researching/purchasing it later. In the end, I think it was probably a fair price and I still have 30 days to think it over...

Thanks to the forum! This is my first new car and I felt a lot less stressed with all the info at my disposal.

    Hi all,

I just got my black 2007 package #6 for $26,649 (sticker $29,649 - $2000 ECO savings and $1000 negotiated off sticker price.) With tax it was $27,935.94. I was worried that I got a bad deal....until I drove it and fell in love! Now it doesn't relly matter. Thanks to all for the posts here. I learned to avoid the dealer extended warranty and I've already contacted Troy about getting one for $990.

BTW, his name is Guiness :)

It's the "ECOnomic savings" that Toyota was offering on the options packages. I don't really think it amounted to much in the end because the sticker price went up shortly before the 'savings' went on but, it made me feel like I was getting a deal. And I'm in sales myself...I should know better

Hi 07pineprius, I am looking for the exact same car, and live in the bay area. Would you mind sending me a pm with the contact info for the person you dealt with at the dealership? I would love to get a similar deal on that same model.

    Many thanks!

We got Package #2 $24,400 (includes ToyoGuard Plus and mats) out of the door from Lipton Toyota (Ft.Lauderdale) on Labor Day. I think before tax and tag it was $22,700.

I contacted a few dealers in the area through edmunds.com for the price. After talking to all of them I couldn't bring the price lower than that. Edie in Internet Department was very helpful. We negotiated everything over the email and phone. Overall very pleasant experience. Finance guys were tricky but eventually they beat Credit Union rates.

Then car arrived a three days later and here we are driving Prius :)
