It took a huge amount of time. Maybe 5 minutes and still didn't seem to be done. I refreshed the page thinking my PC has froze. I ended up closing the window and logging back in.

Hey, DH says that I can get a BT stiffening plate! WOOO HOOOO!!
So, if you've replaced yours recently because you either a) got a whole new suspension system, B) decided that the plate does nothing and want to get a bit of the green back, or c) determined that your warranty was violated, tell me what you want for it. :D

Plus, if it is overcast/misty, there is the element of slippery-ness.... Just one more challenge for a car's chassis to overcome....

Depending on when you submitted your post (worst case is probably when the servers are being maintained (code updates being installed) or backed up), a 5 minute response time is "normal". Nothing like a time zone difference.... (Maybe even a date difference, depending on where the server is physically located. :) )

Message to Brian and any BT Tech plate doubters.

I fitted the plate well over a week ago, and have tested it thoroughly in all the normal conditions - including travelling at 60mph on our local motorway and being overtaken by 16 wheeler lorries.
My obvious conclusion is - its worth every penny!!!
The ride now feels far more stable and solid, the sideswipe effect from the lorries I have previously encountered was non existant.
The groove road surface problem was definately not evident anymore.
I have covered over 200 miles on a regular path of road I normally travel, so I think this gives me a certain understanding of the problems I initially encountered.
When you look at the quality of the BT plate in comparison to the factory fitted item you can see why the problems were there in the first place.
I am now seriously thinking of advertising the factory plate on eBay as a part from the Millenium Falcon - I bet I get some bids as well.
Thanks again Brian for all your help - look forward to the new product.

Thanks for your kind words and your positive review of our BT Tech plate!! It's nice to see our products used in different areas of the world including the UK...

We are currently working on 2 seperate products for the Prius and I hope to have one posted here very soon. Manufacturing quality products never goes as quickly as one would hope for but the end result is a product with exceptional quality and perfect fit and finish. We manufacture everything we sell in the United States and do not use cost cutting methods such as manufacturing overseas.

On one of these threads there was an excellent quote about the lost art of satire and irony....

Why all the great american companies are doing it... GE leads the pack of course, along with Westinghouse and this list is far too long to put here......
Funny how here "down south" where Texan and American Spirit is so strong, almost every Car commercial plays on that and barely mentions the features of the car or truck, but rather about the "area" and implying that having thier vehicle means your a "true blue" American or Texan... all the while, almost every part is manufactured overseas and "if" your lucky, its actually assembled here to put the "Made in the USA" sticker on it of course.

Brians company is one of the rare that actually was created out of, sold in, and made in America!... those are kinda rare anymore. The Tempation to take advantage of cheap labor is pretty irresistible.
Now instead of sending our work out, we are trying to just bring all the overseas laborors in!.... LOL!

As long as they will still work for the cheaper wage of course!

There still is a certain amount of pride in "Made in America" products.... in some respects the overseas stuff is better and more reliable, but when it comes down to good ole machine work, America does a good job.

There may be a lost art of satire and irony, but unfortunately, too many people are getting the shaft from sending manufacturing jobs offshore. There is also a multiplier effect where manufacturing jobs provide other high-paying jobs that are in support of the manufacturing jobs. Then, when the manufacturing jobs go offshore, everything starts to tank and what is left is lower paying service sector jobs with limited (or no) medical benefits. And people have to work two and three jobs to make ends meet (but they still don't have health insurance). Kind of like where many communities are presently at.... Not trying to be negative, but....

Another reason why supporting the BT Plate is a good thing.

I was pleased to buy from America and it's great that Brian is manufacturing in the US.
We have exactly the same problems here in the UK with engineering skill being lost, and a shortage of quality because of the exportation of manufacturing due to labour costs.
When finally they realise that the skills have been completely lost it will as always be too late to resolve, as we are finding out to great cost in the building and electrical skills department.
I only wish other companies in the US had Brians atitude towards sales overseas regarding thePrius accessories.
Most never even answer a sales enquiry - why???
I will continue to support Brian, even though we have the 'pond' between our two great countries.

That is an unfortunate collateral impact of outsourcing - the affect of which is even harder to quantify, since the two are not necessarily connected in a way that can be easily tracked/monitored.

What is your life worth? The handling improvement in an emergency situation is enough to convince me that it is money well spent. I was able to control the car through a four wheel drift without a problem.

Moral: Good handling is your friend, when you need it you need it BAD. Do not wait to buy and install the
BT plate. The life you save could be your own.

I recently purchased directly from Brian at BT TECH as the Prius Shop refused to ship overseas.
I can recommend the plate and perhaps if we get together in the UK maybe we can purchase other items in bulk such as the Lockpick and the Scanguage and even the Block warmer.
I'm in just let me know.
    Thanks

Ok, 47 pages in this thread, plus countless other threads, I admit, have me flummoxed here. Can someone tell me how the stiffening plate does for handling in crosswinds? NOT just being passed by semis, but sustained wind conditions. While the Pri is, indeed, virtually invisible, aerodynamically speaking, front to back, it seems to be shaped like a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer side on. On long flat freeways, I have often encountered high crosswinds, and had to hold on for dear life for miles at a time. Am I still gonna have to hang on so tightly that I end up with cramped shoulders? (And I now have about 26k miles on the Pri I've had since May 2006, having just returned from our 2nd cross-country trek, so I DO know whereof I speak!)

And...I hope someone answers quick, so I can order in time for the $20 discount if I decide to go ahead...

my BT Plate seems to help me in crosswinds. Definately when passing, or being passed by Semi trucks, but i dont think I've ever been in a sustained crosswind for several miles, so maybe this post is of not help to you. BTW, you gave me my "word of the day".... flummoxed...... i had to look it up. Great word! thanks, and I really dont think you can go wrong with the Plate.

    good luck!!
