I bought my Prius in spite of its looks. I reluctantly bought Toyota instead of Honda because the Prius can run in electric mode. I could zip silently through parking lots, etc. I also wanted the least-polluting car I could get.

But now things have changed: My in-town driving is 100% electric and zero pollution (using electricity from the Bonneville Dam). The Prius is my long-distance car.

If Honda comes out with a car that has reasonable interior space and significantly better mileage than the Prius, I'd very likely switch back. I really liked the customer service at Honda, and both companies make extremely reliable cars.

The Prius is a better car than the Honda hybrids. But now that I only drive it for road trips my criteria have changed.

On the other hand, a PHEV capable of 50 miles on a charge (without the Prius's 42-mph limitation or it's low acceleration in EV mode) would meet my needs even better. The first company to do that will get my business, even if it's GM (though I'll eat my hat if GM does anything good, ever).
