I have been driving my new Prius for couple weeks now. One thng I noticed is that the yellow Airbag LED on the passenger side is always on. There is no passenger and the ON/OFF LED besides it usually are not on after the initial turn on/off. Is this normal?

It's normal. I find it silly that they actually lit the word "airbag," when they could have printed it. Then just light up ON or OFF. The presence of the lit word "airbag" implies something's wrong.

You may have a bad seat sensor or airbag sensor; in any case, mention it to your dealer. In normal operation, all "idiot" (warning) lights should be off.

I believe this is normal operation, it isn't an idiot light, it is an indicator that the airbag checks out OK but is not on. The problem we have is my wife is petite and doesn't always trigger the airbag 'on'.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Angel Flight Pilot @ Aug 16 2007, 03:34 PM) </div> On the 2007 model it is on. I just had my 5K service and asked about it and was told that it is suppose to be on. As a previous post suggested this is odd since it seems to suggest that something is wrong.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(wiiprii @ Aug 16 2007, 02:43 PM) </div> geez! how petite do you have to be to not trigger the sensor!? like 50 lbs? I put my dog in his kennel with my backpack (a total of maybe 75 lbs) and the seatbelt sensor was going off and I was informed (after buckling up) that the airbag was on...

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(doubleg2005 @ Aug 16 2007, 06:04 PM) </div> I conducted a scientific experiment at the office and found that 100 pounds did not arm the airbag.
I'm talking about the actual word "airbag" always on. The word "on" illuminates when the airbag is active due to a passenger in the seat. Having "airbag" lit runs counter to the normal idiot-light philosophy: things light when they require attention. The word "airbag" should not be a light, but should simply be painted onto the panel. If there's a fault, then a real light should activate.
