Hello All- Coming off a line of BMWs (2000 328i, 2003 530i, 2005 X5 4.4i) and into a Prius. I just ave my local dealer a deposit on a gray '08 Touring with the rare (in NJ, at least) Package 6. Dealer says MSRP for 2008 isn't set yet, but I'm hoping it's same as (or not much more than) 2007. Can't wait to start saving gas! -MKL
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 15 2007, 04:00 PM) </div> You will enjoy your Prius - but be warned, it will change your driving habits. Good luck on the 2008
Congrats on the Prius purchase! I came into the Prius world from the BMW realm as well [2001 325i] and it's quite a different car to drive. However, these days I'd drive the Prius over the BMW. The Prius is so much fun to drive, plus the fuel savings is incredible. Not having to put in 93 anymore is quite nice! Plus I only visit the pump once per month instead of 2-3 times! That being said, nothing beats the smooth effortless acceleration of a BMW.... but I'm too concerned about the environment these days to make it my primary car. Prius all the way! Enjoy!

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 15 2007, 04:00 PM) </div> Well Best Of Luck And I hope it will be everything you want it to be. We must see a picture when you get it. Eatontown, WoW I use to like in Atlantic Highlands for about 8-9 years. Loved the beaches. Still miss them. But had to relocate for the Job, First To Ohio and now Upsate New York. Well Best Of Luck!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 15 2007, 04:00 PM) </div> Hope you join us at one of our meets. You are still welcome with the "other" car.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IsrAmeriPrius @ Aug 15 2007, 06:09 PM) </div> When I signed up for Priapus, we didn't know if he would come in as an '04 or if he would be an '05. One thing we did know was that the MSRP would most likely change. For that reason, the order form I signed had the price listed as "MSRP." We just plugged in the number when he arrived.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 15 2007, 01:00 PM) </div> Came off a 740iL myself and into a 2007 Touring Package 6, you won't regret it!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(IsrAmeriPrius @ Aug 15 2007, 06:09 PM) </div> Ugh... ANOTHER brand whose dealers can't be trusted. Believe me, I've had my experiences already with nearly all of them. Well, thanks for the link. I will send it to my salesman, who did promise me the purchase at 2008 MSRP. I'm relieved it's only a small increase... -MKL
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 15 2007, 03:00 PM) </div> Funny, I'm heading out this morning to do the exact same thing: order an '08 package 6 gray touring. It will replace my '00 323iT. FWIW, there's a bay-area Toyota salesman active over on priusonline who's posted some '08 prices. According to him, MSRP on the '08 Touring package 6 is $27865, which, if accurate, would actually be a few bucks lower than the '07 price. My dealer doesn't have pricing yet, though, so my order will just read "MSRP" like yours. Was your dealer able to pin down an estimated delivery date? Tim Chicago
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tim Wilson @ Aug 16 2007, 09:52 AM) </div> No. I got "around 3 months" as the date. No biggie. I'm in no rush, and I don't use the car much anyway. I commute 56 miles daily, but always on my BMW motorcycle (unless there's a blizzard or bad thunderstorm). -MKL
Coming from a lowly 3.0L Camry I can compare on the driving experience but I can tell you that after 4 months of ownership I now use 1/3 of the gas my Camry used to. I have slowed down in terms of top speed and in terms of time to reach a given destination by 10% on my most frequent routes. Also the Prius has pacified me considerably. Now if most things in life just made that much sense...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 16 2007, 10:10 AM) </div> I'm back, the order's in. I got your "3 months" reply on my iPhone while I was sitting there waiting for the manager to figure a time frame to write on my sales order (at my request). He couldn't, but said that once the ordered car starts moving into the production queue, they'd be able to give me a better idea. He agreed to take half the non-refundable deposit now, and the other half when they can better pin down the price and delivery timeframe. I signed. Now I wait. Tim Chicago
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Tim Wilson @ Aug 16 2007, 12:15 PM) </div> Tim- Update. I called my salesman today to tell him that 2008 MSRP is indeed out - he asked me to send it to him, and told me they're now figuring on a 6-8 week timeframe. I told him - I'm in no rush..... -MKL
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 16 2007, 01:34 PM) </div> Is that the MSRP from the July 30 press release, or is there something newer. My working assumption at the moment is: 23,220 (announce touring base--150 over '07) +660 +4175 (destination and package 6 prices from '07--I haven't seen anything different) =28,055. Just my best guess. Is that close? 6-8 weeks? Not too bad. I can do that. Tim Chicago
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(moshe_levy @ Aug 16 2007, 02:34 PM) </div> Congrats on the new 2008. We also ordered a 2008 and hope to get it by the end of Sept. Did you know that if you get your car by Sept. 20, 2007, you get a Energy Tax Rebate from the government in the amunt of $750.00? That will be the last of the Energy Tax rebates on the hybirds.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Blue Hoosier @ Aug 16 2007, 07:49 PM) </div> fueleconomy.gov says it's $787.50 through Sep 30. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE( @ ) </div> Over about the last 3 weeks, I contacted maybe 20 dealers within 2-300 miles of Chicago, looking for a Gray Touring package 6. A lot of them had nothing unsold. None had what I was looking for. A couple were offering small discounts on what they did have ($100-$300), one was offering about $600 off (In Ft Wayne Indiana!) but all the rest were selling at MSRP. No one had the car I wanted, so I ordered, at MSRP, whatever that turns out to be. Yesterday, one dealer sent me what he called "preliminary" '08 prices: Base prices up $150 (except new stripped down model), packages identical to '07. This doesn't necessarily feel official yet, though. Tim Chicago
