hey everyone I just moved to Boston and need to get my car registered in MA, question: what type of insurance should I get? Anyone have any good/bad experience with any companies?
well, the rates are pretty much set by the state, so it almost doesn't matter which company you go with. Many of the smaller ones have been sucked up by One Beacon by now. Make sure if your driving record is good in another state, you get that info transferred over [you may have to persist until you find the people who know how to do that]. A higher deductible on your collision/damage can save quite a bit, too. . But at its heart, as in many other places, it's a big legal scam. . [Okay, folks, where's the "official welcoming committee" gonna have the next get-together??] . _H*
When you visit your local insurance agency be sure to remove the Yankees bumper sticker if you want the best rates! Welcome to Boston, a great sports town. PS: Yankees Suck

Then my broker changed companies and I got switched to Commerce Insurance, which, so far, has been fine. In terms of price, yeah, we're the only state where rates are set by the government. How much you pay depends in part on your record and in part on where you garage your car. Some companies might give small group discounts. The state consumer-affairs department has some more specific info. Oh, you might not want to put a Yankees sticker on the back of your car .
