Hey, I used to live in Mobile! It's the USS Alabama. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=30.681649,-...p;t=k&hl=en Hint, this former end of an aqueduct now subsidizes a grocery store for the needy with what it collects. [attachmentid=10481]

At work... glad to help you out! Searched for 2 things I wanted to use, but Google Maps aren't recent enough to show them! [attachmentid=10484]
The Ellipse. Across E Street from the White House. http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll...p;z=16&om=1 The small circle near the top of the ellipse is the National Christmas Tree. I hope someone hasn't posted this one yet. [attachmentid=10491]

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sufferin' Prius Envy @ Aug 9 2007, 11:13 AM) </div> Nope - I was just looking for MY new puzzle when you posted....
Don't know what the current one is...but if I get it I have a fun new one...at least I think it's fun. If I get this one after a clue or someone gives up their turn I'll post it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(airportkid @ Aug 9 2007, 11:43 AM) </div> Yes it is. Notice the double security barrier, the gate across the taxiway, and the perimeter road. And this is ON an Air Force Base to begin with. Yep, they are serious about security. Speaking of which. I, or should I say we, got a tour of an active Air Force One (I think it was 27000) in Palm Springs when Reagan was there on a visit. Our Navy C-9b parked "fairly" close . . . enough for the USSSA folks to pay us a visit to check us out. They wanted to make sure we were not carrying any weapons. Since it was only us crewmembers and AF1 had just arrived a few hours earlier, only maintenance and clean-up were being done, and Reagan wasn't scheduled to leave for a day or two, we were given a tour. Dang if I didn't have my camera . . . but I did get to keep a book of souvenir matches.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ Aug 9 2007, 02:02 PM) </div> I can say with certainty that this landmark is of a category never used in the game thus far. It is nonetheless VERY well known (and in some circles constitutes national embarrassment in that the landmark is where it is and not someplace else). While this category has never been used, it has been mentioned in this game, and recently. MB
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(airportkid @ Aug 9 2007, 05:30 PM) </div> Hmmm, YOU recently suggested several categories, but the only one that this photo might fit is "Theaters" or maybe "sidewalks". The road markings and round-abouts strongly suggest a European location. The circular driveway that doesn't have a clear exit is interesting, yet there's an unremarkable rectangular building in the middle of the pictures. The plethora of tall thin trees is probably a clue as well...but my Botanical knowledge is pretty limited.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Sufferin' Prius Envy @ Aug 9 2007, 04:54 PM) </div> Sorry to jump off topic here, but I thought "Air Force One" was a flight designator used to describe the flight in a fixed wing aircraft that the president of the US was on. Marine One is if the president is in a rotory wing aircraft. Am I correct? SAM27000, isn't that the last 707 used for presidential duty? OK now back to my futilaly trying to figure out these locations.. But I think I've got a good one stored up if I can ever figure one out
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(airportkid @ Aug 9 2007, 08:00 PM) </div> Well how about CERN! http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=16&om=1 Let me find something. Found it. No hints! [attachmentid=10498]
We must have some sick group think here. My "good idea" I posted about as I was searching for airportkid's image was the Fermi Particle Accelerator Guess that would be a bit too obvious now...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Toups @ Aug 9 2007, 06:44 PM) </div> http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...p;z=14&om=1 That was easy. I just typed "largest switching yard" into Google search and it spit out North Platte, Nebraska. Ok, here's one, no hints.
