I made two videos to show how to remove the light case and how I installed 42mm twin LED bulbs.

    How to remove hatch light.

How to install 42mm festoon LED bulb.

A couple of high res pic that may help out.

A couple of weeks ago, this 1 Watt LED bulb saved me. My fiancee left the front passenger light (one that you press the button) on and I noticed it the next morning when I left to work. The light was probably on for about 11 hours and the Prius started without problem.

It's kindy hard to refer to the original ones. Could you past a link to the item, from the shop: http://stores.ebay.com/warden-jp2002

    Also,
Would these fit in the dome? (or maybe cargo?)

That link you provided will fit in passenger dome but not the cargo. Cargo housing is too small for that.

These will fit the front 3 dome lights: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2pcs-168-19...63575QQtcZphoto

This will fit in the cargo: http://cgi.ebay.com/1pc-31mm-3022-3175-Hig...oQQcmdZViewItem

    thx usbseawolf,
I think I will try 2x the led-plate for the dome.
(what fits in the passenger-mirror lights?)

And the one for the cargo.

I've ordered the leds, there were some new versions of the 31mm.
    I will keep you updated.

By the way, there are many new products on the site, they look promissing (leds for taillights, etc,...)

Wow, I've received and installed the leds and I can recommend this to everybody.

I would like to try the leds for exterior lights now.

Actually, "city lights" are really dim. Dim enough that they can't actually be use for much illumination. It's just to give the other drivers the ability to see you with out going blind. They are generally about 6 to 12 Watts and are a smaller bulb that sits near the low beams in a European code headlamp. I'd love to pwm my HID's to get them to function as City Lights.

This was my first mod to my 3 week old Prius.
I ordered the lights from warden_jp2002 on EBay all work fine.

The Cargo light housing requires a smaller light than the 31mm Festoon,
has anyone found a drop in replacement for this one?

Thanks everyone for all the work put into this thread and others.

I bought a pair of 1.5 Watts LED from Deal Extreme. They are much brighter and a bit more blue tint to it. It has the same color as my rear dome 28 LED bulb so it turned out even better.

I made a video comparing the two:

I appreciate the video. I hope you don't mind, I posted the link on clublexus.com I am just looking for brighter 194 led's. I am still unsure if I want to try these out on my license plate lights. The blue hue may cause some issues with local law enforcement here in CA.

It is not that blue. I forgot to mention that my sweater is not white. If I have time, I'll do another comparison with a sheet of blank paper.

I appreciate it. Pictures from a white piece of paper would probably work well. My friend bought a pair and will probably be getting them in 1-2 weeks. Shipping from Hong Kong takes a while.

Wow man, you've done some nice mods to your Prius!
I'm thinking about also modding my black prius with some interiour leds, but i'm completely new to modifying cars. I've read this (and some other topics about replacing the lights, so i guess that'll work out.

The plan is to start with the door lights (step/courtesy right?). I looked up the page website from EvNut with the prius bulbs on it and looked at which number parts i need. I actually prefer a red glow, so i found a pair of red 194 (t-10) leds from the same E-bay supplier you guys buy your gear from. Will leds with numbers matching to the EvNut website fit in most cases? Or are there any specific Prius things I have to take in mind when replacing door lights?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

I thought I would share the excellent results I got using these LED strips on the interior and front doors: DealExtreme: $8.82 SMD 12-LED Extendable Light Strip (30cm / White / 12V)

They are very bright, can be cut into smaller segments (up to 4 per strip), and have a 180 degree wide angle light output. I used a 1/2 strip in the front dome light area, 1/4 strips in the front footwells (wired into the key slot light wires), and 1/4 strips on the bottom of the front doors (wired to the door courtesy lights). At less than $10 shipped, they are a great value and very versatile. Next I plan to use some in the rear cargo area. I also experimented with the orange strips as DRLs on the front bumper (last 2 pix). They turned out better than I had expected!
