I bought a 2004 prius on the internet that had front end damage. It was towed on a tow dolly to new mexico and when it got here it will not start. i later found that half of the relays were missing from the fuse box. i borrowed relays from a friend and jumped it to no avail. i want to tow the vehicle home but it is locked in park and i need to know if anyone has removed the park mechanism from the transmission or if it can be pulled out electrically without removing the park lock mechanism
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(larryjo2 @ Aug 3 2007, 08:06 PM) </div> From a quick look at the service manual, it looks like unbolting the shift motor (only shifting is into and out of park) and rotating it. Of course, this will probably only have the shift motor shaft rotating, but you may be able to have it move the park pawl. All the other covers over this associated with the park mechanism seem to involve draining coolant and or seals that have to be replaced - some from a tube of sealant. I'd spend the $10 for a day's access to the techinfo site and go after the transmission stuff and anything else you will be working on. The pages below were for 2006, although I don't think any of that area changed. - Tom [attachmentid=10350] [attachmentid=10351]
